Dochterman also said on the podcast that he talked to someone in the program that said this is the most positive they’ve felt about the program in a few years. The addition of Lester has probably helped, but the Brian/Petras/Cade stuff has probably been annoying as fuck to navigate for 4 years.
Awesome, just in time for the worst Iowa schedule in the last 40 years! Too bad they couldn't have figured this out a couple of years ago when they had a couple of cupcake schedules.

That makes one of us
The NIL world will make things much harder for Iowa, especially after busts with Proctor and Noodles and this year in general.

Plus, the uncertainty with the next coaching hire, I worry we end up more like Wisconsin 2024 or Nebrantska the last 10 years than what we've become accustomed to.

I hope Kirk retires. I’m willing to roll the dice with BD Beth. The next couple years are gonna be bad anyway
the nice thing about having BDBG is that if her dick isn’t big enough she can just strap on a different one.

The next head coach will be Seth Wallace with Phil Parker staying on as DC and Tim Lester as OC along with pretty much every other coach staying in tact.
This is probably the best scenario.

We need to win these last 2 games or we are looking at falling from the ReliaQuest Bowl down to maybe the Guaranteed Rate Bowl!

I read or heard that Beth is going to require head coaching experience for the next hire

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but the bowls used to legitimately be a massive motivator to players. Not only was it a free trip to somewhere warm, but they were nearly as excited about the gift packages / gift suites that they got. Getting a $500 gift card, a watch and a Playstation or getting to go into a hotel conference room and pick out a number of things they would then ship to you was a huge thing.

Good luck with that when most players can just go buy anything they want or pay for their own sunny vacation with no rules now.
Well, what they may be playing for is that a lot of them, probably most, grew up dreaming of playing major college football and now they are doing it. And since they are out there anyway, winning is way more fun than losing. So even at 6-4 and out of the playoffs there is probably a lot of motivation to get to 7-4.

I like Tim Lester. And expect the hawks to be better next year.
Considering when he got here, and what he was given to work with, I think he's done pretty well. I'm going to try and stay optimistic that giving him time in the off-season to further teach and implement his system will help. Hopefully Kirk will listen to his input on any recruits or portal additions. Still may take some time but if we can keep the current staff and it's relative success, and bring along the offense, it should result in fun times ahead. Not saying we'll be in that upper tier but at least looking like we can dip our toes in the water from time to time.

I've heard UNI is going to go hard after LeVar for their head coach. If he's smart he'll say no.

Maybe they'll go after Wallace.

Seth was given the associate head coach title to prevent him from taking another defensive coordinator job. I can’t imagine they are simply going to give him the head coaching job.

Northern Iowa should be looking at Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz, but they won’t.

They have the ability to get decent line and tight end prospects. They also don’t mind utilizing undersize wide receivers, and transfers have been huge for them over the years.

they should give Strohmeyer a look as well

Correct, he was offered the DC and Associate Head Coach title by Minnesota and he turned it down. He didn't do that so he could be the LB coach in the future.

I like Tim Lester a lot. He's worked a fucking miracle this year given where we were at the last several years, and having to navigate a bunch of leftover bums that I assume KF put a finger on the scales for.

And because of that, I don't mind doing whatever it takes to keep Phil if KF retires. Who are you going to get as DC that's better? Fucking nobody, that's who. Even if he only has 5-7 years left in the tank. Good players want to come to Iowa because he's here. Assuming he's not planning on just retiring whenever Kirk does.

I think it's kind of a moot point though, because I don't think any of them are leaving after this year. Kirk is going to stay and get his record, and the rest of the gang is going to hang right there with him. It's not exciting, and they've got a bitch of a schedule next year, but maybe they can have some sort of magical season.

After that, I think Kirk is done. And if that's the case, provided Phil and Lester are still performing at a high level and interested in staying, I think it's ok to have a stopgap guy from within the program for the next couple of years as long as it's not a long term commitment.

I am guessing Lester will get some phone calls this off-season about new gigs. Maybe I read he committed to staying 2 years, I sure hope that's true.

Getting rid of Kirk would be a significant positive for NIL efforts fwiw

Cade thinks he can get an extra year of eligibility thus his reluctance to play the remainder of the season. Maybe Drake needs a 25 year old, gimpy, noodle-armed QB.

What an asshole.

Talking to an INSIDER!1!! tonight that said both Cade and Jermari Harris have quit the team and said Kirk is losing the locker room. Looks like this really is the twilight of Kirk’s career

Deshaun Lee and TJ Hall guarding Marylands receivers is going to be fun.

I'm guessing that even the inept Iowa beat writers would have caught word of that about Harris and have mentioned it by now.
