If he did quit, we all talked about this months ago. Once a team is out of playoff contention, what incentive do a whole lot of players have to keep playing?

That was sort of laughed at earlier, but now this year you have seen guys opting out in September and you will get an incredible amount of players that will eventually be done once that 3rd and especially 4th loss happens.

That’s not exactly a great character trait for the NFL scouts. Doesn’t really matter for the truly elite of course, but I’m not sure mid round guys should want to test that theory. On the other hand, if they are legitimately good enough for the NFL then they will likely make it regardless. Who the fuck knows anymore.

Not so much quit, but shutting things down to prepare for the draft
I imagine a guy like Dan Campbell would be impressed by that. Much like his half-hearted attempt to stop the UCLA receiver from getting the final 1st down on the sideline.

This random late season bye week plays a role here. Especially after basically having 2 weekends in a row off.

Also Maryland has really good receivers, may want to avoid putting that on film.

Agreed, these guys flew to LA and got their ass kicked to drop to 6-4 and then had 2 long weeks to think way too much with only 2 games to go and nothing to play for.

At the same time, if there's really nothing to play for, who cares and gets some younger guys some time?

When did the NFL ever care about character? Ray Lewis murders a guy in a dark alley and has his bronze bust in Canton, OH. Kareem Hunt was kicked off the Chiefs for beating the shit out of a 19 yo girl but somehow he is back to running the football in KC.

Franchises don’t give a flying fuck about a person’s character. They only care about the person’s production on the gridiron. You either produce or your ass is fired.

If the Harris rumor is true, he might be avoided by a few teams but somebody is going to put him on their 53 man roster if he can play.

I'm guessing Traore and Thelwell cost the swarm 25$ combined.

Not a knock on those two guys, I really like what they bring, but Brad using them to beg for money is a bit much.
Brad does almost zero with basketball

If you’re a fringe middle round prospect, you want Kirk saying as many good things as possible about you. I have no idea where he gets drafted. I never imagined Michael Ojemudia would be a 3rd round draft pick. The higher he’s drafted the more money he makes/the more likely he is to stick on the roster. Especially at corner.

And, like it or not, giving a lady equal rights and equal lefts is different than quitting on a team.

Lololol holy shit that list is sad and pathetic
The one thing they could point to is all the sixth year guys coming back, but the defense taking a huge step back kind of killed that.

So you're left with two basketball transfers that likely didn't need some large NIL offer, Gill who was a nice addition but is in the same boat, and the women's PG. I don't know what that market is like, but I imagine it's not as crazy as the football portal.

I was told by a member of the Virginia coaching staff that Jackson came here for $150k. Hard to imagine anyone else mentioned besides Olsen got anywhere close to that.

I thought I read something this spring that she received an offer from LSU for $700k, and we were able to get close enough to get her to commit.

Good players won’t even need the league, especially if they come from poor backgrounds. The incentive has become just GET to college and get paid, rather than excel in college and get paid.

The faster revenue sharing can happen the better. Won’t completely solve the problem but hopefully might help. It would be interesting to see how Iowas NIL stacks up vs other “like” programs.

Having multiple “high profile” busts can’t help but we’ll see if Tim can make a difference.

I’m going to go on record and say that unless you’re a surefire first rounder or your family is really hurting financially this sitting out business makes you a bitch. Players should want to play. You never saw Tristan Wirfs or Jack Campbell remotely talk about doing it.

Contracts will help prevent this though. As it is, the fact that good but not great players (who will never make an NFL roster) can quit mid season and jump ship for an additional payday while not living up to the one they just got is a total load of horseshit.

If someone will pay Cade next year, why would he not do what’s best for him?

What’s actually best for him is to start a career in something other than sports. He’s already a couple years behind many of his peers.

Also, lol that anyone is in any hurry to get to contracts or a way to fix this. As long as 95% of the focus remains on the potential 12 teams in the CFP, not a single person with any power will give a shit about the rest of the 120+ teams that don't.

TV contracts are locked for years to come. A combination of 12 teams made up of those willing to pay and those with a schedule enough to get lucky will be there every single year.

People in the ticket office will cry about the poor sales, but the $100m per year in TV money will more than dry the tears.

Fuck everyone for what they did to college sports, but especially fuck you @ivan_drago and Jay Bilas.
I’m gonna do it even harder next time you fucking bitch. I’m gonna tear down the entire structure. We will own college athletics, me and JBo and Ed O’Bannon

That’s right, and I’m the pivot man. We all talk about how we deserve it while we finish.

I'd be shocked if Harris "quits" after the way he showered Kirk with praise just a few weeks ago in regards to his career.

I just want transparency. There doesn't need to be a cap or anything like that, but everyone should know who is getting what and where it's coming from.

All the secrecy and rumours are garbage. Everyone deserves to see how sleazy this really is

The contracts and payments from the school will help some. But every 4 and 5 star recruit will expect an additional NIL deal. And those types of deals will get bigger every year

I don’t think it would be great for his draft. Many NFL teams still like dudes who always play hard, especially if they aren’t exceptional.

NFL scouts will draft someone literally while a video of them beating a woman plays in the background. They're not terribly concerned about character.

Tyreek Hill, Kareem Hunt, nobody cares as long as they're able to play. Once they have several suspensions and can't be counted on to be play like Greg Hardy, they become expendable.

If Ray Rice was 24 and coming off a 1,000 yard season, he would have been back.

Anyone who thinks the NFL cares is wearing blinders.

That applies only to the extremely talented guys and not fringe guys like Harris. Character and perception still matter. Kapernick wasn’t that long ago
Kaepernick also sucked ass at that point in time.
