I'm not excited for the game. This conjures all the feels of the jake rudock era.

Petras is firmly in the prove-it stage for me. He needs to prove he doesn't suck. Otherwise he's Nate Stanley without the good moments

I actually think the defense has a good chance of shutting them down.

I'd guess it'll be a similar game to what we've seen the first two weeks. A better end result, but the problems remain.

Iowa 23
Michigan State 21

I’ve been told Michigan State sucks. Iowa is mediocre. 7 points seems like too many.

MSU might be ready for a let down after a big Michigan win but Iowa is a fucking mess

MSUs strategy against Michigan was basically chuck it deep and hope for a PI or holding call. It worked a lot.

On defense they’re really good but in a different way from NW. They blitz a ton and play a lot of man whereas NW just sat in zone. Might actually be easier for the offense.

Lombardy isn’t particularly accurate and they don’t run the ball well. They do have good receivers but the Iowa secondary should be better this week than agains Purdue. NW has a really good defense, but it is still hard to envision the offense being a whole lot better this year.

I'm not sure that's a great combo for our quarterback who has the steadiness of a fucking wind up toy from the 80s.

Michigan State is not good against zone teams. Lombardi doesn't have the talent.

This makes no sense. Iowa has not garnered any offensive consistency, their defense looks sluggish and slow and we are favored by 7 over Sparty who just took care of Michigan?

That's exactly why it makes sense to take Iowa -7 this week. Because it doesn't make sense.

They also got beat at home by Rutgers.

Iowa has lost 2 coin flip games.

It isn't that crazy of a number.

Every time the fans lose hope in Iowa, Ferentz pulls an improbable victory out of his ass. This is one of those times.

I'm not sure beating a michigan state team which lost to Rutgers would ever fall into the improbable victory category.
True. But they beat Michigan even more recently, which shines brighter in my mind than losing to an overachieving Rutgers team.

Need to get pressure on Rocky, he will throw some interceptions...maybe even a pick six to pump up the Iowa crowd.

26.2’s “improbable victory” shit randomly reminded me of that 2007 OT victory over MSU in a 6-6 (non-bowl game) season that BTN inexplicably showed all the time as a “Classic” Iowa game.

In that game, Jake Christensen was 5-15 for 53 yards which included a 23 yard TD pass. An average of 3.5 ypa. His QBR was 12.8. Without looking it up, take a guess who caught said pass.

One of those "improbable victories" when he's favored by 7?
Iowa fan is down on their team, who is going to play MSU who we haven't beaten in 8 years, and is coming off a win against a ranked Michigan team. And nearly everyone in this thread picked MSU against the spread. People expect a poor showing on Saturday.
