Flew in Friday night after a delay, got to my hotel at midnight. Can't recommend the Homewood Suites Downtown enough for a decent run of the mill Hilton property. This is an old building they recently completely renovated and the rooms were huge with 12' ceilings right in the middle of everything. Stayed in Room 311 in honor of my dawg @AZmessDAWG.

Grabbed a drink at The District Tap that night, snapped a pic of the line wrapped around the block at IT'S BROTHERS! for the @26.2 show.

Woke up, grabbed some breakfast, took a 5 mile walk and watched Gameday and the Texas game after. Took a walk around the stadium and saw some cocktail shrimp eating contest with Joey Chestnut happening in front of the stadium. Headed into the game at 6:30pm, the suite was beautiful, met some good Iowa and Michigan people and had a fun time despite the loss.

Walked back towards the hotel, did some people watching, grabbed a drink and went to bed. Checked out, flight left at Noon, home by 2:30pm. Good times!

The principle, as least as it's been presented, that once we make a decision on a starting QB we're not changing because we believe he's our best chance to win and on field performance doesn't impact that assessment, is very bizarre.

I'm sure @ChipHilton could remember better, but if you leave out the first couple years of the jumbled QB mess when Kirk got here, he's been absolutely fucking dead wrong on the QB decision 5 times.

- He was hesitant about playing Brad Banks, immediately is the Heisman runner-up and Top 5 ranking
- He chose Christensen over Stanzi until it nearly ruined a season. Immediately has a nearly undefeated season and Top 10 season
- He chose Rudock over Beathard until it change was forced. Immediately leads to an undefeated season and Rose Bowl
- He chose Petras for 3 years over a wet fart, likely cost him 2 Big Ten West championships and NY6 bowls
- He chose Bacon Hill over a wet fart, likely cost a chance at Big Ten Championship and NY6 bowl

The only times he didn't choose the wrong QB is when it was really the only choice to make. Chandler for a year, Tate for 2 years, Fat Nate for 3 years. Those guys were mostly unchallenged and/or by far the best option.

Pretty much whenever there has been a time to make a decision on a QB, he makes the wrong decision.

Also, it's not just that Kirk is wrong about the QB choice, it is that when forced to change by outside forces or injury the results are immediately incredible, often with an undefeated or Top 10 season.

It's the reason the 2001 team isn't 9-3 instead of 7-5. 2008 team isn't 11-2 instead of 9-4. 2014 team isn't 9 wins instead of 7. 2022 team isn't 10 wins instead of 8.

The only team I can think of that might have been benefitted by a wooden statue at QB was the 2003 team where Chandler did just enough to not fuck things up and they won 10 games.

The QB stats are astounding for a team that went 10-3 in a major conference.

First you have a gimp coming off a major injury that completed 51.1% of his passes, 505 yards in 4+ games, 4 TD, 3 Int, -45 yards rushing. He never threw for over 200 yards in a game.

Then you have a fat fuck with a 49.4% completion percentage, 1096 yards, 5 TD, 6 int, countless fumbles, and -94 yards rushing. He miraculously passed for >200 yards vs Rutgers.

The offense had 8 games with fewer than 125 passing yards. Thank God for Phil.

Oregon had 2 WR that both individually put up better numbers than our entire receiving corps.

He almost views the QB as another Coordinator or coaching position where his mantra is they refuse to change during the season unless there is an injury or extreme circumstance.

Even in 2014 when Beathard had to come into the game and save them in Pittsburgh, then won the Indiana game and Greg Davis made it clear he thought Beathard was better, Kirk still decided on his own to stick with Rudock and tanked the rest of that season.
