he was running forward and somewhat had to throw across himself due to the receiver being down the left side. Regardless, he threw a weak duck two yards behind lachey

What exactly are you arguing against? Nobody said it was a good decision on Cade's part. It's either wide open, or you eat it. You don't just say fuck it.

That doesn't really make sense. Cade's horrible interception came on a play where they were being aggressive. Lester deserves to be shit on for the redzone offense, but this wasn't a turtling Brian game.

This game was really about Cade being a giant pussy. Faced a little bit of adversity and was too afraid to step into a throw.
Right. Saw this earlier today:

TLDR; the offense actually has been quite different two games in. It just doesn't really feel like it after last week because Cade sucked so bad.

That makes it extra depressing, because Lester has been the proverbial 'good enough' Iowa has needed for the most part.

But then he went full retard and had a walkon TE try to block one of ISU's best tackles for a back not named Johnson on the 1 yard line.

And they were still in position to win going away if Cade doesn't underthrow Brown by about 10 yards.

I want to die.

Brian’s damage on the QB room cannot be overstated. Cade is/was a used wet bandaid for a laceration requiring 30 staples. It’s going to take any coach at least 3 years to get that position group back to where should be.
It’s not the fucking OC

He should have thrown it to the decoys, they were breaking open.
Getting away with throwing for a TD to a double covered Gill in week 1 facilitated this particular poor decision

Cade had a couple nice handoffs on Saturday.
He’s pretty good at that

I would have preferred they used Lachey as the decoy on that play and had Ostrenga be the intended target you’re trying to sneak on a wheel route. ISU wasn’t going to ignore Lachey on any play.

It seems people are forgetting about the play Cade got sacked on. He needs to just throw Gill open like he did on the TD in week 1. He had the defenders beat. The ball just needs to be thrown.

That one where Gill was open was weird. Cade saw him and looked at him but just didn't pull the trigger. He probably thought he couldn't make the throw. However, if he would have thrown towards the sideline he could have at least given Gill a chance while minimizing the risk of a pick.

I don't know but Cade clearly has a noodle arm and I'm not sure he sees the field well either.

Which are traits Kirk loves in his qb’s!

I said it the day it was announced that Cade was transferring to Iowa. He is broken and will not be the answer. Then he gets hurt again. Now he is objectively awful and likely will be hurt again. However the most Iowa thing to do is keep sending him out there, watch shitty play and we bitch the rest of the year. I’ve seen this season before. Send KF to a home and get some new blood in this bitch. Thanks for the wins but it’s time to move on.

It was an aggressive designed play to take a shot after getting good field position. I loved that they even considered it. He didn't even throw across his body. He rolled to the right and was clean. The entire design of that play is to have our guy completely wide open because the defense bites on the misdirection. If they don't fall for the misdirection, you don't throw it. He did.
Iowa St. was ready for it since Texas torched them on the exact same play last year...

When you’re stealing someone’s play it’s important to make it look exactly the same as what was run previously against that team.

Otherwise it might not work.

In the play Texas ran, it looks like the throw to the RB was the initial read. The RB was pointing down field, presumably to the TE who was uncovered. It didn't help that Iowa also kept 6 in to block and still got beat by a 3 man rush because Dunker, Richman and Jones didn't actually block anybody.

It's a good play but they covered it. Thats where a good QB checks down to an open receiver. Focused way too much on lachey on Saturday.
KF comes back saying "All the WR stuff last week was OK I guess but we go thru the TE's here"

It really is amazing how bad those 3 are. RICHMAN WAS PLAYING ON 1 LEG!! Well he fucking sucks.

Then of course "Quality Depth" Nick DeJong comes in and is somehow worse than Dunker. Lolz.

We can't even execute our own system plays on a consistent basis, why would we try that?

The first look I thought he made a horrible decision. On second look he made a horrible throw. He puts that out in front of Lachey it’s either incomplete or a first down. The safety wasn’t as close as I initially thought and wasn’t making a break on the ball. The ball needed to be thrown to the 25 yard line. Instead he threw it to the 30 yard line.

What made Beathard great was he didn’t give a shit if he was about to get drilled. Cade played like that in 2021. Unfortunately the injuries are clearly in his head.
