Was surprised Washington brought a small collection of band members

A bit sad we apparently no longer have a hawk fly down from the press box. Hoping it’s a temporary training thing.

What percentage of run game difference do you think is scheme, Oline improvement or RB improvement?

I was told it's because they're training someone new (not sure if bird or person) but the plan is to fly again. But it seems like they haven't flown one since Walter didn't want to come down last year.

Well, I'll tell ya, that sure was a fun day! The Washington fans were cool, too. 10/10 would recommend

It would be interesting to hear what they thought of the Kinnick environment.

Watched the replay and was genuinely impressed with X for the first time. It's like a switch has flipped for the young man.

He at least came up and made some hits. That seemed like a step in the right direction.

He played great, and was super physical.

This may have been said, but I thought the key play of the game was the play that Kaleb Johnson made just before halftime to get us into field goal range. So many times we run for 2 yards and just head to overtime. That was a brilliant play and led to points and shifted momentum back before Washington received the 2nd half kickoff. Huge.

Kirk does a lot of conservative shit but I don’t think even he would play for overtime going into halftime.

I also do not think it was a “brilliant” play. They were essentially just trying to run out the clock. He just broke it because he’s KJ
Yeah it’s not anything new. They run it 99% of the time in that situation and see if they break one. Then they decide if they are going to try and score or not. Its always been KF’s philosophy.

Thank you for posting this. I was worried some posters may think Kirk's philosophy has been to air it out whenever possible at the end of a half or game.

Brilliant play by KJ. Not the play call.

A little bit of everything but we manhandled them up front. Executing on a few key plays and capitalizing on good field position was a huge factor in how the game played out. The Huskies were a long ways from home, with a completely rebuilt roster. They’re going to be up and down all year.

That being said, Washington has some really good WRs and QBs.

Every game that goes by shows how terrible Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz was. I would hope recruiting offensive players might be a little easier now.
There were a few holdouts out there insisting that he wasn't the problem, football is complicated, more than meets the eye, etc. Nope, he's as horrible as we all thought he was.

No way. The feel of this game was completely different. First time in awhile I thought they were still gonna run it up.
Agreed,
We scored 10 points in the final 1:30 of the first half without a turnover.

Unimaginable just a year ago
Should have been 14 if Cade wasn't such a fuck up.

And the thing is it's not the actual play calls that made him a bad OC. It's the play design, schemes, and route trees that led to such putrid offense. There was no flow to it whatsoever. Lester isn't a genius but you can tell he understands the basics of designing an offense and playing to your strengths. That was something Brian was terrible at.

Running and passing had virtually nothing to do with each other under Brian.

I think most of the holdouts weren't in favor of Brian, but of the "it's Kirk's offense" variety. L.Wadetardians.

It was the actual play calls that made him a bad OC too TBH.

There’s a lot more juice to this offense than what we are seeing. Especially in the passing game. We have for all intents and purposes the same personnel as last year and double the points.

Some experience at WR and a QB whose footwork isn’t a catastrophe is going to make a huge difference and I think both of those things will arrive either through the portal or recruiting. Just the fact they try to throw to WRs will make a huge impact in who they can get.

The offense has a ways to go but it’s much much better than I ever thought it would be at this point in the season be and am glad we’re not running a gay, clappy, look to the sideline offense with this personnel. It would have been really embarrassing.

The retards throwing the ball to the WRs will obviously limit this.

Walter's NIL promises went unfulfilled.

Once it was determined that they were going to award Washington 3 points for kicking the ball in the general direction of the uprights I assumed the half was over and changed to something else. I thought FOX had fucked up the score every time I saw 20-10.

It was everything. Kirk should have kept him at OL coach. He was good at that and position coaches are rarely under fire. Doubling down and making him the QB coach was even dumber.
Results from this year do absolutely nothing to change my opinion that Brian wasn’t actually any good as an OL coach either. Lester took the exact same group and produced a top 20 rushing offense that finished 103rd a year ago.

Rushing yards per game under Brian
23 - 103rd
22 - 122nd
21 - 98th
20 - 57th
19 - 90th
18 - 95th
17 - 95th

Brian was not the OL coach once he became OC. Don’t know what coaching responsibilities ever look like inside the program but they averaged more YPC with Brian as OL coach and Mark Weisman as RB than they did in any of the years with Brian as OC and someone else as OL coach.

The OC doesn't coach the offensive line too. I mean, c'mon man. Brian sucked ass as an OC but let's not blame him for all the ills of the world.

He’s still to blame for the offensive line. He may delegate their direct supervision to a position coach, but ultimately it’s his responsibility to step in and correct any shortcomings in their coaching and development.

I don't wear extra tight coaching shorts, but doesn't the line seem much better this year?

Not to be a potential Negative Nancy, but how much of our offensive progress under Lester is just simply Kaleb being awesome; or is our scheme being better that is making Kaleb awesome? Both?
