Sophomore TE George Kittle sat down with hawkeyesports.com this week to talk about this season, being a Hawkeye, and more.

Finally watched this segment. Had no idea Kittle, Krieger-Coble, and Settles were all cousins.

Lol Kittle talking about having 69 receptions this year and how he doesn’t want to mess that up and the follow up question is something like, “Tell us about your relationship with your fiancée Claire, and her mom who works here at BTN”

There was an article about him on the athletic about why he fell in the draft. Obviously production and injury questions, but also that the iowa staff didn’t exactly sell him as being all-in in football.

But remember Kirk only oppresses black kids or something.

oof

that article doesn’t exactly look great for Iowa
I disagree and think Kittle would as well.
you think he’d like a discussion about how Iowa questioned his character to scouts?
I think he would agree his football character wasn't the best at Iowa. He didn't always work the hardest and from what I heard liked to party a bit too much.

While it may have hurt him in the short term, as the article points out going where he did and to who he did ultimately gave him the opportunity to be the Pro Bowl level player that he is after only a couple years. I also think as he has gotten a few years older, he realized that his work ethic wasn't the best but he was given the foundation to carry it on into his pro career.

If Iowa coddles him and isn't hard on him or honest with him, maybe he never learns that he has to outwork everyone. There is a reason his production wasn't all that great in college and is off the charts now.

This is who Ferentz and Iowa are. I don't always like it or agree with it, but there is zero doubt they aren't in the long run trying to do what is best for the kids they coach.

I wouldn’t say that at all. It basically means that NFL guys know they are going to get an objective evaluation of their players which in turn results in a high level of confidence in the iowa staff.

George is on record saying that he basically didn’t even try his first couple of years and partied too much. Also given how often he was hurt it’s pretty fair to question his dedication to training and rehab.

Correct and he was giving nothing but praise to Ferentz, Doyle and the staff for helping him become the player he is now.

Heard the same thing as well, he partied way too hard and didn't take care of his body. If he was the worker that Hockensen has been his first few years, then no reason he couldn't have been a Mackey winner given how good his QB's were at Iowa.

Oh, he did have Greg Davis as his coordinator, so nevermind. =(

He blocked his ass off as a junior and senior. Current DL have publicly talked about him pasting them in practice.

I was a little surprised to read about his effort issues. They must’ve all been outside the lines. Kirk certainly is no fan of gamers.

Blasting Greg Davis is perfectly legitimate. GDGD was never going to use any tight end to their true potential.

Plus slamming GDGD justly or not is worth a like in my book.

I posted this a couple weeks ago, but He had that interview with Pat McAfee where he said Pat angerer really set him straight because he didn’t take football seriously at all his first two years

Yeah he did an interview earlier this year where he basically said that Pat Angerer finally told him to get his shit together and was a big in his career taking off.

Kittle dropped one that was intercepted after it landed on his back, but you’re forgetting the part where he had his facemask ripped off right in front of the ref, so

He’s probably sitting on the balcony of his working man’s $1.8M condo, sensibly chuckling, and enjoying a nice glass of pinot grigio while awaiting the 10 am NFL kickoffs.

If he’s smart, he’s waiting outside for Barney’s to open to get some pregame breakfast tacos

Some lady ahead of me is returning a Christmas tree. Who does that and it has no chance of getting through the door on the industrial cart it’s on.

Kittle seems to be on his way to NFL super star, possibly in the Gronk realm.

How about YPC? numbers seem to depend on the player (and QB and talent level of teams).

Clark was 15.8 for two years
Chandler- 12.5 for 3 years
Myers- 11.9 for two years (9.9 with JC, 13 with RS)
Moeaki- 12.5 in 54 games (Seems like it should have been more based on talent)
Reisner-12.1, but 11.0 and 10.2 in his last 2 years. Was more nimble at 225
CJF- 9.9- High was 10.4 under KOK, but only had 16 catches compared to 75 in 2 years under GD. He fell down a lot
Duzey- 11.7 in two years and change
HKC- 11.6 in his only extended action ('15)
Kittle- 15.4 in two years and change

Cherry on the top of the Pro Bowl season with a 43 yard TD for the final catch of the season. 9 for 149 on the day.
