I don't really look at other rankings besides Rivals...would a class that includes Nunge be top 20 on the other major sites with three 4* kids?

SILENT COMMIT!!11!!

This tells us that Fran brought Nunge in on an official already knowing the scholarship situation. Confirms what we thought that Fran would take Nunge and Garza

So we've got legit size back at the 5 (Kreiner, Garza, Nunge) all of whom have pick and pop style player. Good times.

From the Register:
"Nunge and Garza join Connor McCaffery, the coach's son, as Iowa’s three commitments for the Class of 2017. His addition boosted the Hawkeyes to eighth nationally — and fourth in the Big Ten Conference — in 247Sports’ composite team rankings.."

It's three guys all of whom are more of less consensus top 150. Not going to finish top 25, but pretty good considering we only technically have one ride available this year

And players who will be in the program for 4 years who should be very very good players by their senior year. This program is going to compete for at least the next 5 years and if it keeps trending in the same direction, for the foreseeable future. This is going to be Fran's last job. He's not going anywhere.

Nice to add on Weiskamp the following year and then Patrick. Good rolling few years of 1 or 2 B+ / A- players each year.

Yeah things are looking good for the foreseeable future. I like Iowa's 4 year plan in this day and age. We get good players who develop and good chemistry. Would be nice to finally get an elite PG type (black) but that's about the only missing piece.

In looking at the scholarship distribution chart it is extremely fucking helpful when you have a coach with multiple legit top 100 sons who can walk on if need be. Between Ferentz and McCaffery you start to take for granted that coaches do not necessarily come with helpful offspring.

Just so many good shooters being collected at the F / C positions. Give this program one stud PG and it's going to be scary fun. I'm glass half full right now that maybe Christian Williams can be that guy the next 3 years because he's surrounded by so much talent. But fingers crossed Joe W comes in with a highly touted PG who can break defenses down and either finish or kick it out for an open 3 from one of the many shooters around the perimeter.

My sister's a regular Tom Kakert. She informed me this morning that she's good friends with the Nunge family and knew he was going to Iowa for a while.

She couldn't have shared that info earlier?

I assume this means that we're going to see Cook more at the 3 which he has the skill set for anyway. We're going to be fucking yuge! Good luck keeping Cook, Wagner and whoever we put at center off the boards. Not to mention our 6'6" guards.

The Register tweeted that Iowa went up to #8 in 247's ranking, but the only team ranking I can find on their site has Iowa at #16--which is still great news.

Scroll up
Scroll up to see the same erroneous report again? I saw your post and I saw the Register report when it came out about the alleged #8 ranking. What I haven't seen is any actual ranking that high from 247. FWIW, Scout's listing, updated today, doesn't have Iowa in the top 25, and the only Rivals team ranking only goes 20 deep and doesn't include Iowa.

It's not a criticism of the class, which is very good--just pointing out that the Register's report doesn't appear to have been accurate. The poster who said Iowa won't end up in the top 25 is probably right because most of the higher-rated prospects haven't committed yet, but I think Nunge and Garza have a lot of development ahead of them and both have a chance to eventually play well above their current individual rankings.

Speculated a lot but interesting to see sort of confirmed by a reporter.

Why is the #4 player in the country going to Western Kentucky?
