The question is who do we trust more out of the Missouri guy (who said Iowa and Mizzou) or Kakert? Either way, good that Iowa is the constant.

It doesn't. Kakert posted this yesterday and he made it sound like Fran was just sick of going in circles with him. Doesn't want this to drag out for no reason. If Moore was interested (he might be but the people handling his recruitment are not) then he would have scheduled a visit. Fran is basically giving Charlie and his handlers a rainbow.

It's been feeling like Moore was moving on. Sucks to whiff on another good PG. At least it wasn't a Ulis level of whiffing. But it still sucks.

It sounded like from the recent interview that Fran was planning on PG by committee of sorts in the future. So he is probably tired of playing games. Hard to blame him.

I'll be interested to watch LoVetts career play out (if it ever gets started- I don't think he's been academically cleared to begin at SJU yet). He rode the hype train, which is pretty common for Chicago guys, and especially MIF guys. His recruitment had it all- academic issues, holders, a possible reclassification, pimping Kansas interest into new offers, an over bearing father saying opposite things of the son, etc.

It's like for his recruitment, all of those MIF associated people got together and said, "Let's combine all of the crazy stuff we've done in the past into just one recruitment and see how effed up we can make this thing." That is Marcus LoVett, in a nutshell.

It is nearly September and most players have their visits set, and from what I can tell Iowa only has 1 scheduled visit so far (for uncommitted players) and that is for Cook on Sept. 18th.

My guess is that Fran feels comfortable with bohannon/Pemsl/Kreiner and letting it ride on Cook. If he commits, home run, if not he'll pocket the scholly until spring or '17.

It would be beyond a disaster. Pemsel hasn't played a meaningful game to evaluate him since he was a Sophomore, Kreiner is a nice role player and bohannon is mid-major talent at best.

Yes. He'd immediately start, probably at the 5. He's a bigger version of Branden Dawson, in my opinion. It'd be a shame if Cook didn't bring his game to the Big Ten. He's the prototypical big man for this league.

This probably means that Fran knows Moore ain't coming and Huerter is a significantly better option at guard than whoever is next on the offer list. Basically, you'd rather have Huerter than bohannon regardless of position.

Or Kevin Huerter wants to come visit the McCaffery family and both parties know they aren't a mutual fit.

Beal and Lee also played for and sponsor the St. Louis Eagles AAU team. Florida also lost their 2016 PF recruit a few days ago.

My gut is telling me Iowa on this one and that hasn't ever really happened with guys iowa has recruited with Fran. A lot to like:

- Cook continues to say that relationship with the coaches is huge. He loves Fran and Sherm and says he can really trust them

- floridas coach is new and hasn't had as long to build a relationship

- Iowas primary competition has changed, but the one program that people keep "hearing" for Cook is Iowa. Where there's smoke...

- Word is that Cook really likes the Big Ten. Conference affiliation means something here, because the SEC is basically UK and then nobody else

I'm still hopeful that we'll land Cook, but what people say or what they keep hearing about his recruitment doesn't mean anything unless the people doing the talking are Cook or his advisers. I worry about Florida because things haven't gone especially well for their new coach since Billy D left and he needs some big wins in recruiting. They just got their first 2016 commitment a few days ago--he's a top 100 in-state PG, but it'll take more than that to keep the boosters happy, especially when FSU has been beating them in hoops recruiting lately. Even if Cook's family is above such things, I don't trust Florida to play by the rules, and even playing by the rules, they have a lot to sell in Gainesville so they'll probably make Cook's decision harder with that OV.
