Dom Uhl became a nihilist like a lot of Germans do a couple of years into college.

“This game is meaningles, why struggle and suffer to improve when I could devote this time to making avant garde musique concrete installations?” Dom Uhl, 2017

Hey guys, it’s Williams. I am looking to put together a focus group in order to find ways to improve the lives of young people throughout the country. Gen Z struggles with addiction to tech, self image and anxiety issues, and has trouble coping with social and financial reality, including the burden of student debt. College athletes are no different. I think we can encourage our public leaders to put forth legislation to ease this burden.

Wait- I’ve got it! Let’s PASS LAWS THAT ALLOW THEM TO GET PAID BASED ON THE NUMBER OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS THEY HAVE!! ITS SO SIMPLE!!

I do agree that these players have a very small window to make money off likeness and should be allowed to do it.

they have a small window to make a small amount of money. Sounds like a good reason to blow up a system.

Lol. Your not going ok with them making a few bucks so we can move on from this argument ?
You think it sucks now when they don't think its fair that they aren't making theoretical dollars. Imagine, the whining that is going to happen when a couple guys make a little money and others who think they should be making a little money dont.

Jesus Christ. Perkins played important minutes as a freshman on a top 5 team, which had 7 players returning with starting experience coming into the season.

i get people being upset how this year ended but jesus christ. Iowa's roster is prepared well for the next few years. Even better if they can find an impact post. Who says perkins cant improve his deep shooting? If only iowa had some long, 3 point shooting players waiting in the wings to play alongside Perkins...

Despite a lot of guys returning, there are a lot of question marks. You don't need to be a pessimist to see next season being rough, but it's not that hard to see next year's team being pretty good.

If Ulis and Toussaint can be serviceable, I'm going to choose to be optimistic.

He’s not the same player necessarily, but my guess is that Perkins has an Anthony Clemmons like ceiling.

I don’t follow this at all with regards to ceiling. If he can become a 35% 3 point shooter, he has a very high ceiling. He’s strong, bouncy, pretty quick and potential to be a very good defender. Put a decent shot with that and you could have a really good player. I don’t know if he gets there but I also don’t know if I’ve seen reason he won’t become a decent shooter.

That wasn’t supposed to be an insult. Clemmons was a good player. Just not a star.

You guys don’t like bouncy kids who compete? I don’t think he’s destined for a several year NBA career or anything, but I haven’t seen a thing that tells me Tony can’t be a very good college player.

Clemmons might be a likely outcome. I just think the ceiling part is wrong. He’s more athletic and rebounded his ass off. He wasn’t asked to do much but wasn’t a mistake guy. If he becomes a serviceable shooter, that’s a good player who is better than Clemmons. Too soon to have any idea on his shot I think.

I assume the concern with Perkins outside shooting is based entirely on his free throw shooting? The fact that he didn’t hesitate on that corner 3 against Oregon tells me he’s a confident shooter. It looks like he took a bunch of 3s in high school. He looks like the exact type of player everyone on this board has been talking about Iowa needing since they lost. He was a true freshman that wasn’t expected to contribute but Fran trusted to play second half minutes in Big Ten games.

I never said I don’t like him, nor do I want him to leave or think he will suck. I just think his combination of ball handling, size, and shooting limit his upside.

I mean every other high major coach evidently agreed with me.

I don't get the hate on Perkins. I thought he looked good in what little time he got to play this year.

I don’t know if that’s directed at me but I don’t hate or have concern about Perkins.
