They're high school kids, they're probably having fun competing against a D1, future Hawkeye player. I think we're overestimating how upset kids get about losing a game in a long season. In fact the first game this season between the 2 teams was quite a bit closer. Dix is a high school kid playing with his friends, hopefully building a memorable season with his teammates. He wants to play.

it's a freak injury. It happens. It could have happened in the final 2 minutes of the game last night or at the next practice, it doesn't matter.

I think Bowen will be starting by the time Iowa starts conference play next year and by end of season is widely considered one of the best players on the team.

Joe is an uptempo, full court press all the time type point guard. He’s not great as a lead guard in the half court. There are game situations where he’s very valuable like at Purdue when you’re trying to press your way back into the game.

Every time I watch Joe play, I can’t help but feel like he’s playing the wrong sport. The guy some absolutely insane hand speed and the ability to get it on the ball defensively

Part of me wonders if he grew up somewhere else in the country if he isn’t a D1 defensive back right now

I’m guessing there will be more blue bloods entering his recruitment this time around - seems like recruits of this caliber in the late signing period get even more attention.

That being said, a lineup of Bowen, Perkins, Pat, Shaw and Kris Murray would be fucking amazing and pretty much a Fran wet dream.

Recruitment: Decommitted from Missouri last week. Iowa, Kansas, Maryland and Oklahoma State were among those involved.
Bossi’s take: When Shaw reopened his recruitment he made it clear to 247Sports that schools who he already had relationships with would have a better shot. In that regard, Iowa and Oklahoma State would be in the best position due to that and being relatively close to his Kansas City home. The new coaches at Kansas State and Missouri, Jerome Tang and Dennis Gates, don't really have pre-existing relationships with him. But, there is a good chance that distance from home will still be a factor so they could still slide in there. On Tuesday, Shaw indicated to 247 that he's hoping to have a better feel for which schools he will look into within the next couple of days.
