At this juncture, the two programs are about equal -- both have recent NCAA appearances with early exits, although VT made a little run a few years ago. Good but not great teams in marquee conferences. Proximity to home could indeed be the deal-maker, under the circumstances.

Fran better pull out a hell of a sales job.
