Jones is coming back and Johnson and Bruce are clearly the future at WR. If you're a sophomore that's buried on the depth chart, not hard to imagine why you'd look elsewhere.
Correct, and add in Rigatoni to that (and Tracy if he stays) and there you go.

According to posts on TOS, the head Notre Dame 247 guy thinks Nwankpa will be a Hawkeye and the head 247 recruiting guy says there is “lots of buzz surrounding Iowa.”
Looks like he is officially rubbing Nwankpa's balls for iowa

LB recruiting: Recent offer Wade Woodaz from Tampa Jesuit committed to Clemson.

The staff is taking a look at Illinois ILB James Kreutz, son of former Bears center Olin Kreutz. James’ older brother plays at Illinois and the younger Kreutz has a visit scheduled there on December 10, but it doesn’t appear the Illini have offered yet.

I think Montgomery moves to fullback. I don't think he has the open space quickness and range to play linebacker in the modern game.

But I think you're right that LB isn't a huge priority in this class with the big LB class in the last cycle.

@chaneccooms I barely follow recruiting so I'm sure this has been talked about already, but I just looked and was surprised to see Iowa only has 11 commits for 2022 at this point. Was this expected to be a super small class, or have they just whiffed a ton?

It was always going to be a smaller class, possibly the smallest of the Ferentz era, but as others point out they whiffed on a number of guys this summer. They can/should finish strong in the next 2 weeks.

Kinda lazy to say that considering the transfers that have happened and will happen. Iowa needs numbers

Iowa had 16 senior day guys, including 2-3 who may come back for another year. Not all 16 are scholarship. So while they have had a few transfer, they will probably add a transfer or two and still finish with their smallest high school recruiting class under ferentz. That also is ignoring walk-ons who might earn scholarships....guys like Quinn schulte, Tanner pallissard, etc

Walk on. Had offers from FCS schools. Nice get.
Maybe not for long. He's rated higher than some current commits. My guess is that Iowa will see how the rest of the class fills up and then see about a scholarship for Dom

Wiseman, Hubert and Gaffney is a really good group of walk-ons on the defensive line. All had at least an FCS offer and Hubert had multiple FBS offers.

What percentage of guys who have FCS - UNI/Dakota school scholarships that walk on end up getting significant playing time at Iowa?

I would say it's high.

Hopefully the Kelly news firmly kicks Notre Dame out of the running for Nwankpa. It would be nice if the media started throwing around Ryan day's name with the openings
