Not really. The expansion era NBA was awful and the increase in college players going pro early started a decades long decline in college basketball.

I never expected us to get back to the title game after losing 2 starters and not getting any big in the portal. Though with how good SC is I don’t think any one portal player would have changed the outcome

I agree. Iowa probably needed two starter level players to truly compete there.

You couldn’t truly appreciate the amount of size Iowa was giving up until you watched them go through the handshake line after the game.

I keep saying - look how much respect ISU fans have for Cooper Dejean because he's a class act, doesn't show boat, and handles himself really well even in adversity. If Clark didn't act like a whiny baby, throw tantrums, and do all the showboating, we'd give her the same respect.

Nah. Dejean knew exactly what he was doing on the fake fair catch thing. Typical hok trying to pull something to skirt the rules.

It's interesting to think about what her career would have been like if she'd come to Iowa State. I don't think CBF would let her shoot 20 times a game.

I never heard of her before the final last year. I finally watched the last two games to see what the fuss was.

I was really disappointed overall. I have no idea what the fuss is. I saw a very good offensive player, but I wonder if other girls were given free rein to take 30 footers how many they might make. She isn't a very efficient player, gets lazy at times and doesn't really defend at all. Lot of complaining as well, not sure if that's her thing or just the big game pressure.

Those 30 footers are just really inefficient, the reason people don't take those is you can almost always get a better shot. It's just math.

I was really hoping to see something generational, but I just saw the same thing as Allen Iverson scoring 30 points on 15 free throws and taking 25 shots with the ball in his hands all night. Nothing generational Al all about that.

I was more impressed with the girl from CR as a player.

I think you will start to hear stories leak out about what her own teammates really thought about her and what a diva she is now that it's over.

I’m certain this number is being massaged to be as high as possible. The idea that it is drawing ratings as high as the men’s final four or the NBA finals is just hard to believe.

As currently constructed without any portal additions, I doubt it. I think that could've been a reasonable target but the injuries to Guyton (incoming Fresh) and Kennise Johnson make that hard to see happening. A portal guard would be an ideal addition as I think next year they could play with Hannah at the 4 and AOG at the 5 or the new freshmen from Oregon.

This is all correct. Next year, without a major addition, is a gap year.

Stuelke looked good this year. Affolter really seemed to step up when Davis went down. Give McCabe and a few others another off-season in the weight room and gym and it's hard to say. I'm not expecting a Final Four run, but there's some decent players waiting for their chance. I think Bluder and staff are a little like Phil Parker in football, who is going to be the next player(s) up?

we don’t really know until we see them play in the post-CC system. It’s pretty clear that CC is one of those hyper intense competitors, and some girls may thrive when she is not around.

I believe many of the incoming freshmen are injured.

Caitlin was responsible for such a high percentage of the scoring I can’t see not having a huge drop off in wins. Hell, CC was the only person who could handle full court pressure with any regularity.

I think in two years they’ll be back on the sweet 16.
