It was for the 2020-2021 season so it will be done after 2024-2025 season. Literally no basketball players opted out of that season so it was largely pointless. Agree should have been for seniors only during 2020-2021 season on the basis that they had to play their final year in front of zero fans with a reduced schedule.

I don't think that is correct. A freshman in the 2020-2021 season has 6 years to complete their eligibility. If you toss in redshirts and medical redshirts, I read that as 2026 or even 2027 there will be players still using it.

they announced it for winter sports in October 2020 when football had been a complete shitshow in part due to the B10 getting stupid and wound up just being stupid with shit like Iowa State winning a “major” bowl over a 4-2 Oregon team.

then the basketball season, while not entirely normal especially day to day, had a pretty good cadence and certainly felt real. But they had already decided for a totally unnecessary blanket waiver.

It will be tough. They’re one of the top four teams in the country by the only metric that matters. Though, everyone else there will be, as well.

None of the teams are entirely backcourt or frontcourt dependent, or outside shot or interior drive or post dependent. The teams are balanced everywhere.

I know it's part of the approach to minimize fouls, but it's frustrating to see our D just give up on plays sometimes. Not asking for some Rick Mahorn shit, but anything is better than the Patrick shoulder shrug and the "well that just happened" face.

If I was a coach playing Iowa, I would go full NBA style from the first minute of the game and iso Iowa's best/most impactful player and have my best player drive or post him over and over until he picks up 2 fouls. Fran can't help himself.

Doesn’t change your point but Miami is the exception, two years in a row now. Their defense was 152 entering the tournament last year, 132 this year. Mostly guard dominant both years but Omier has been solid this year. $800K to replace Moore with Pack is turning out well.
