I think there were signs the run game was improving last week. If this was against Illinois or Nebrantska this week at home I'd feel much more confident in big production from the Iowa offense. This Minnesota team is legit. I think Iowa can pull it off but it will likely be close.

They can move the ball against them, and they ran for 5 ypc against Wisconsin. I worry they won’t get touchdowns, and Minnesota is more likely to capitalize on their opportunities. They seem like a better version of Purdue to me.

I disagree. There are signs they are figuring it out. They scored 22 against Wisconsin on the road and had multiple explosive plays. The running game also was improved as was pointed out.

Minnesota doesn't exactly have a great defense. They won last week because Penn State did every single unforced dumbshit thing to fuck it up.

Not true, they lost to Northwestern after that. They've also given up 30+ three times this year. Penn State certainly should have scored 30+. They can be scored on. Conversely, Iowa has yet to give up more than 24 points in a game this year. Minnesota won't be changing that.

If I’m Phil, my game plan is basically the opposite of last week. Force them to run. They had a ton of success throwing slants behind blitzing Penn State linebackers. If you give up a couple first downs on the ground whatever. Stop them for a short gain on 1st down once then play zone with 7 guys behind it.

There’s also no way they’re patient enough not to throw the ball. Penn State put themselves in terrible position by blitzing the shit out of them and putting their defensive backs in 1 on 1 situations. When they changed that in the second half Minnesota scored 7 points.

Also as others have pointed out, Winfield is really good but the rest of their defense is very meh. Iowa will score against them.
