BF isn’t a great playcaller but has been a great position coach. The scheme design is obviously better, and he should be given a chance to get better.

I posted the numbers elsewhere but KOK averaged a top 40 offense (S&P+) but O’Keefe was top 40 on average while Davis and Brian have averaged in the 60s. It’s not just a Kirk thing or an IowaFan thing.

I think Brian’s done a good job calling plays on 1st and 3rd down this year. Where he really needs to improve is 2nd down. He has the tendency of picking up 4-6 yards on first down, call a long developing pass play on 2nd that results in a sack and puts them in 3rd and long.

Those would be great spots to run that shotgun power read. Especially if they have a play action off of a similar look.

He been doing what everyone asked for in terms of looking downfield more.

I thought it was a good call. Who knows what happens if the ref doesn't screen Sargent. Nate is tough to bring down. I think the biggest play in the Iowa State game was his 1st down pickup on 3rd and 11 on the drive in the 4th quarter we picked up our only TD.
