unless you have mad money, those two issues are intertwined.

you pay the seven foot kid two mil and he comes in and he's just ok. So now your other starters all want two mil or more. Maybe your backup 5 who plays as many minutes as the starter wonders why he's not getting paid.

a program like Iowa just can't throw the checkbook around. McCollum needs to get the right fit at the right price.

With only 18% of portal entrants committed I'm still comfortable with no movement (other than visits). If that number creeps up to 75% and Iowa hasn't landed a player - I'd be a bit more disappointed.

He shot 45% from 3 on 157 attempts his last year at CSU. Ben has tried to get him two years in a row, that says something.

I also don't think McCollum was exactly blown away last season by the two transfers whom he had never coached: Folgers and Hausen
