Neither Manyawu or McKeever can shoot and will only score consistently at the rim. They have no midrange or distance scoring ability. McKeever was 43% on 91 attempts in the post though he was better on rolls and put backs at the rim. He shot only 60% from the free throw line this past year after a little over 30% the previous year. Both will be liabilities in late game situations when the opponent needs to foul. McKeever is being brought in to defend and rebound, not to score.
Good thing we don’t need them to shoot. Mckeever will be an upgrade if he is able to do what we struggled at last year. Grabbing an offensive rebound and putting it back

I’m curious as to what happens with Howard. Sage was fantastic on O but pretty meh on D. Howard is pretty fantastic on D but pretty meh on O. Howard is tough as hell but needs to up the O to make a difference.

Seems like:
PG - Combs/Coleman
SG - Coleman/Combs/Howard/Sage
SF - Sage/Koch/Thompson
PF - Sage/Koch/Thompson
C - Manyawu/McKeever

I’m actually pretty good with that lineup. Wouldn’t mind another G but think we can be pretty damn solid with just that.

Combs, Koch, and Manyawu will all be starting. Banks will also be starting if he comes back.

Ben is not just going to bench a guy he started all year last year for some noob

Right, he has no history of not playing guys based on what’s best for the team in any given game.

A loyal union guy, through and through.

@BBK is right as well, he does tend to start his guys that have bought in. Not that they will play a ton, but they start.

Lineup if banks comes back:

Combs
Sage
Banks
Koch
Manyow

Lineup if banks does not come back:

Combs
Howard
Sage
Koch
Maneeyow

Shocking given recent news but true. IMBBHCBMCC values defense, and not turning over, in that order, and hence the new guard will not start cuz he is probably a wip on both fronts, and the new center will kind of suck especially on defense. Both will be part of the rotation. Would not be surprised if one of harris or coons redshirts esp if banks comes back. Logjam.

We can definitely sit here 8 months out and know for a fact these new guys will not be as good as the current players in McCollum’s system.
