Bob Sanders wanted to tackle you.
Marshall Yanda wanted to block you.
Tony Diaz wants to catch the ball.

He’s small and was already hurt in the spring. Quite a physical adjustment from wherever he was that didn’t even have a program a couple years ago to the Big Ten.

I just hope they have a QB that can complete a forward pass, and stay healthy at QB/WR. They have two B10 level athletes at WR for the first time in a long time, would really suck to waste that on a QB that can't run the scheme or throw accurately. Even though I've been conditioned to expect that.
I feel like that’s happened a number of times in recent years; Iowa having a very good team overall, but missing a key piece that renders the rest somewhat moot. Think talented DLine paired with very young, inexperienced linebackers.

(i could also be making that up entirely in my head)

Who are we talking about here? I'm happy to be wrong, but I just don't see anything at the position that jumps out at me more than any of the last few years.

I do think our RBs and TEs will be very good

RVZ is definitely a B10 level receiver and maybe even more than that. Injuries have made consistency difficult, but when healthy he has shown outstanding ball skills and above average size. Diaz is the other one, and while he obviously hasn't had any experience at this level, he was offered by teams like Alabama so there's something there.

Iowa is set up offensively better than they've been in years. Inexperience quarterbacks might limit them, but you couldn't set up two young quarterbacks much better than they are right now. At least at Iowa.

Having two inexperienced qb’s from which to choose has limited every team in the same situation in the history of football.

Dayton Howard also has shown flashes of potential to go along with his size.

KJ Parker could be good if he learns to consistently catch the ball in games.

Agree but these types of thoughts/hopes have been said every year for the past 30 years. RVZ and Diaz appear to be actual legit receivers though. Which is nice.

A lot of inexperienced quarterbacks all over the country have been successful. You can have an inexperienced quarterback if they are athletic and talented and have an offensive coordinator that can scheme around their deficiencies. Iowa’s quarterback problems have not been due to inexperience

I know I'm the guy who said 20 years ago Jake C would be all B10*, and despite my many correct predictions since I'm known for that. That being said, I believe RVZ is an NFL receiver. Obviously needs to get and stay healthy. He might not put up great numbers this season with the youngsters at QB, but when Tim picks his guy and he gets a year under his belt, the passing game fall of 2027 could make all of us ejaculate simultaneously. Especially if Diaz and VonHamme both return, Thomas Meyer develops to his potential, and another young receiver or two takes a step.

One of God’s greatest gifts, certainly. The ejaculating, that is. Champ forced himself in between posts and fucked things up as usual.

I’m not sure he’s fast enough to show out at the combine. But he’s really damn good.

That will be the determining factor. He's huge with great hands and a great blocker.

He ran 11.02 100m in high school. That's a great sign.

The only one I've seen is RVZ, if he's healthy, he's got the best ball skills I've seen in a game from an Iowa WR since McNutt maybe? Just spatial awareness and the ability to go up and get it. We need to see Diaz do it, but when you've got Lester, Barnes, and Kirk with their public comments about him, plus the fact Bama offered him, hard for me to believe he isn't the real deal, when was the last time Kirk was publicly praising a WR like that?

Behind those two there seems to be some depth/upside between Howard/KJ Parker/James, though I'd agree less proven and likely more on par with what they've had historically until we see otherwise.

The only real concerns I have on this team talent wise is DT & QB, I think they'll be pretty good everywhere else, definitely younger than I'd like to see, but the talent is there. Unfortunately, those two positions might be the two most important to unlocking the ceiling of this team.

EDIT: And as long as you get one of the two (i.e. DT or QB overperforms), they probably still have a pretty high ceiling, you can survive QB being below average if DT play excels, or you can survive suboptimal play at DT if QB excels. If you miss at both DT and QB, that's the formula for 7-5 or 8-4, especially if you mix in a couple of injuries at other positions.

With Woods departure is there any concern over special teams? That has been a pretty solid group. Or is this just plug in another coach and things continue because it's more about philosophy of who and how we play?

These were the answers I was looking for.

It's ok to just be asking questions @Lee Beevers you faggot piece of shit!
this is dangerously close to complaining about a rainbow which I must warn you could lead to additional rainbows. Careful here, boss. I could send you a warning soak at anytime.
