And he’s still a walk on. Wasn’t put on scholarship.
As far as I'm aware, the only walkon under Ferentz to get a scholarship before playing significant snaps is DJV. Maybe there was somebody in those early years because the roster was short on bodies, but that's a different situation.

I read that the other day and was a little confused. "Unusual characteristics in his release" felt negative. But then the quick lower body load and release bit (oh my) sounded like a positive. Maybe that latter part assists in not pants-shitting

It was obviously a tight competition for a reason. It shouldn’t be anymore.

I've seen Hecklinski live twice, and have seen 6 TD's.....

I've seen Brown live twice- lots of shit in pants.....

The last Practice superstar Ive heard of is Peaches...

Do with that what you will
Other than practice highlights I don't know that anyone saw Peaches play well

I would say he has to keep playing well, but he should be the obvious favourite if everything that has been reported is true.

I think you misinterpreted what I was saying, I was in no way concerned about the offense or Hecklinski missing a receiver, the point was that all three of them were WIDE open and no matter what option he chose it was the right one. The play was clearly a screen and he ran it perfectly and got 30+ yards.

I more just can't believe that 8 or the 11 Iowa defenders bit on it and the 9th one ran horrible coverage while the 2 on the back end were just fucked.
Was the #1 or #2 D?

Leistikow said on his podcast the other day that Hecklinski’s first four practices were pretty underwhelming and then he started to get back on track after that. The kids day thing was practice number nine, so seems like he was trending upward leading into that and then (hopefully) built in some separation based on it. No idea how things have gone since then, but there’s a legit chance he’s solidly the number one guy at this point. Kirk’s dumbfuckery is always a wildcard though.

This isn't much of a rumor and his name isn't in the On3 article.
