The Jimmy Sullivan/Tradon Bessinger QB competition is gonna be fun next year.

I’ll be surprised if bessinger isn’t challenging Hecklinski

Starter has been named to the team, it's Hecklinski. More likely than not, by the Michigan game the depth chart could be as follows...

Hecklinski
Sullivan
Brown OR Bessinger

Wouldn't be shocking if by the end of the season it's the Sullivan vs. Bessinger battle going into 2027. Brown will be gone for sure.

I was thinking about this today while listening to the Hawk Central podcast. If Hecklinski wins the job and plays well, Hank is gone. Which is pretty obvious in today's landscape. But is he the only one? Sullivan has to be looking at Bessinger being the next guy. And what about Fitz? Nice article about him in the Register today. Having Heck for two more years after this year with Bessinger in the wings would be nice, assuming he stays.

Bessinger has to beat out Sullivan who has been very good this camp.

Is bessinger going to want to not play for 3 years in order to play for 2? The problem with picking hecklinski and him having two years after this year is conceivably everyone else on the roster could want out.

I don’t see how they avoid having one of Sullivan or Bessinger leave after this season.

That’s probably Ok.

It’s fair to assume IF Hecklinski has a good year, Sullivan would be the more likely of the 2 to leave. Bessinger would then be the #2 and in line to start in a couple years.

If Sullivan gets the job at some point this season and looks good, you risk losing 3 QBs.

And all of that is fine. It’s the way this is supposed to work.

If Bessinger is a true blue chip stud, he’ll eventually beat out Hecklinski (by mid-next year or the following year), and that would be a good thing.

Iowa really has no starting quarterback yet, just a guy who is going to run plays the first series. After that it's anyone's guess.
