I also want Kirk to make an immediate decision on the QB, but it better be the guy I want or else I will be equally mad as Doug.

Nothing makes sense about waiting to announce a starter other than Kirk going with the guy that no one wants.

it’s 100% brown

Of course that’s what’s happening, I don’t think anyone thinks otherwise

This could possibly be a year where the starter gets yanked if he's killing the team in a game or they switch to starter B if starter A struggles in a couple of games in a row. No one has really been yanked in a game since Rick got yanked for stinking against ISU in 2008 and for insubordination at Pitt. (Check that, they yanked Padilla at Nebrantska in '21) They know neither of these guys is a world beater, so both guys need to be ready if one guy loses his confidence and goes to crap.

After all....McCann got replaced after two games in '99. Reiners got replaced after starting 4 games and Mullen gave them a spark in the final 5.

Mullen got yanked after 4 games in 2000, followed by Beujter, whose reign lasted 4 games (tbf, he was injured against OSU). McCann finished out the final 4 games.

With the improved weaponry at the skill positions, this just doesn't seem like a year those guys can be allowed to go to waste because of quarterbacking. Kirk doesn't lose teams, but this could be a year where a team could be lost if one guy is holding everyone else back.

Was Hecklinski a five star out of high school?

I guess I fail to see the benefit of leaving it as 'undecided' at this point.
If they really cannot decide, fuck it - toss a coin, and let the other one know not to worry, they will get reps.
why prolong this shit out like this?
seems like it doesn't really accomplish anything

If they are any good, both going to both play anyway. And if the game is close it will most likely be because they picked the wrong guy and both need to play. Fuck all of you.

If the mocks are accurate and Iowa has two 1st rounders on the offensive line it’s hard to imagine them not being really good.

One of Brown, Heck, or Sullivan will be serviceable and the defense will at least be solid.

I got the impression, probably the wrong one, the Lester actually wanted Brown to succeed as he can make all the various throws now that we have actual wide receivers. The short guy, I think, cannot. Lester wants to be able to run the entire offense and he thought that he would be able to this year as he has all the pieces.
I’ve actually been thinking this, but I think it’s more nuanced than just wanting him to succeed.

Browns family had a prior connections to Lester being from the same area. He committed before the Music City Bowl and got a few practice reps in with the team. They told him they were still going to pursue Gronowski which would give Brown a chance to learn the system for a year and the job would likely be his or he would compete with Brendan Sullivan for the job if Gronowski went elsewhere. Then Iowa hires Warren Ruggiero who essentially brought Hecklinski with him after spring ball/when Sullivan entered the portal. IMO Hecklinski was looked at as more of a depth piece at the time since Sullivan was still very young. They didn’t exactly plan on Jackson Stratton ever getting game reps the year before and he had to start 2 games. So they added a little security blanket.

Ultimately you play the best player that’s on the team. I just don’t think they ever anticipated Hecklinski catching Brown as fast as he did, if ever. I’ve been of the opinion they want it to be Brown but they know it should be Hecklinski.

Please explain why this is funny? I don’t think it’s some big conspiracy. I think Hecklinski ended up being better than they anticipated. Brown likely checks more boxes during practice but they know he might just be a pants shitter.

I also think, as of this moment that Jimmy Sullivan will be the 2027 starter.

As much as I like Kirk, this QB situation is all about stubbornness and ego imo. He saw the reaction from fans and media after kids day. It was a given that JH should be the starter. But, Kirk doesn't like giving fans and especially the media the feeling they have any sort of say over anything football related. I say this a lot and it's absolutely true....the coaches have access to waaaay more info than any of us. This is his way of reminding everyone of that.
Hecklinski may better but basing things on one practice, just because it’s the practice we got to witness, is silly.

And lol at the idea that the media (the media!) or fans SHOUD have “any sort of say” over this.

Just being really edgy. What was the deal- maybe that KOK was signaling to run some clock at the end of the first half and Rick ran up quickly and threw one. (?)
Whether it factored in Jake getting the 2nd half call instead of Rick- who had played so much better in the game- was the question of the day.

Yep it was just a crazy one off situation where in front of god and everyone Hecklinski looked great and Hank shit the bed. Never happened at any other practices and just a big ol coincidence……. Is what a retard would think.

That is such a typical reaction from an average fan like you and Monster.
