Is it true that game day was discussing what an upset it was that iowa got this kid?

seems exactly what we need.

Yes at first they forgot his name, switched subjects, then came back to it and said it was an incredible get.

And then Saban smirked and said something along the lines of, “What did he do? Go there to block’.

Saban seemed very anti-Ferentz for going 1-1 all time in his career against him.

Interesting article (gift article) from Scott Dochterman on a piece of Hawkeye history.

Would imagine the Michigan game is announced as Big Noon Kickoff tomorrow with both teams being 3-0 & in the Top 20.

It’s likely CBS had the first pick, which means it’s extremely likely Ohio State at Iowa will be the Big Noon game the following week.

How do they draft games, I thought it was the entire season at once, not week-by-week?

That will help my liver and also my memory of attending the game.

[edit] Isn't this supposed to be the "blackout" game?

Dochterman said a couple weeks back that he believes CBS has first pick that week, so expect Ohio State@Iowa to also be 2:30pm.

Looks like Iowa is a bunch of cheap assholes. (Note the disclaimer in the article where he doesn't know if the numbers are accurate)

It wouldn’t take long to become Purdue. Kf probably doesn’t get the credit he deserves

The money is there. Kirk just thinks the whole thing is stupid.
Kirk has been way better about NIL than I thought he would be. Admittedly a low bar but I still think you're off base here.

No excuse for Iowa to be that low. No excuse for me to say that because I'm not giving them a dime, but Iowa's a top what - 25 or so program in the country in terms of revenue and success? They should be in that 25-30 million area at least in this current ridiculous environment.

Ok, you got it out of your system so you can stand down the rest of the day.
It's there. It's just there. Because reasons. That's another reason Kirk sucks! He has a ton of extra money that he's just not willing to spend! Because it's stupid to Kirk. Not to probably every other coach in the country as well. Just Kirk.

The money is there. It might require some actual effort.

do you think BMC just has money sitting around for a kid like Daughtry?

I must have missed all of the news articles with athletic departments all over the country operating in the black and not the red. Specifically Iowa.

Yeah they are just holding tens of millions in a savings account.
Yeah but you have to have coaches that aren’t in the dark ages still.

We have an old, stubborn football coach who is still pissed he had to get rid of his son.

And we have an autistic basketball coach who thinks he can win with whoever he has to work with, hence his lazy addition of his no talent son to the roster.

Several of us have criticized McCollum for various things, but raising money and generating excitement for the program is not one of them. We have money to sign pretty much who we want (if they want to play here) and move forward with the Carver renovation. Neither of those were happening under Fran.

Iowa is a top 20 revenue program yet we are at the bottom of spending for NIL. He doesn’t want to deal with it. He sure as hell is not going to give some unproven kid a shitload of money likes other schools unless someone specifically steps up like they did for Epenesa.

I missed that. Good info.

They draft weeks, but that also effectively means they draft certain games. Fox always takes the last week first, as that gives them The Game.

I believe one of those preseason articles mentioned that the top 3 picks by FOX were Michigan/OSU, OSU/Indiana, and Oklahoma/Michigan. The top pick for CBS was Oregon/OSU and NBC’s top pick was USC/Penn St white out game.
