To use Big Texan J Hayden Fry's terminology, Jackson's still at the point in his career where he's getting "spoon fed". He has some physical maturation to get done (he just turned 19) and I doubt they want to get him broken before he becomes the 215 pound beast we're hoping to see.

He could get those 3-5 touches against Michigan, but I wouldn't expect big results. Those gaping holes aren't going to be there this week and FCS linebackers and DBs aren't going to be waiting if there is a hole or two.

Correct. He’s gonna play but very sparingly. He may get one shot at a game changing type play.

I realize he very likely isn't going to house a TD, but he at least has a chance (or to make a solid 10+ yard gain) to in the right situation. When you have a program like Iowa and having a guy with the ability to do that is usually the difference between 8 and 11 win seasons. When Iowa is seriously good (not Bacon Hill 10 win bullshit good), they have guys like that. You can't wait on them to be perfect.

Wadley is an example. He was still at the point in his career of being "spoon fed" and needed to have a lot more physical (and mental) maturation, but when he got on that field against Northwestern and blew the doors off in 2015, you had to find a way to get him touches going forward.

I look at it the same way I look at throwing down the field (especially now with Diaz), you just HAVE to do it even if it makes you uncomfortable because the reward far outweighs the risk.

Oh, and you cannot afford now to not get him involved. He's got enough tape and ability that someone else in the Power 4 is going to offer him a scholarship and a chunk of money after this year.

If you wait to season him, he's still potentially staring up at Moulton, Phillips, McNeil and Williams next year as all of them can come back. He might not have any other choice than to go to a Michigan State or similar. You don't want to lose a guy like him. I'd rather see McNeil and Williams walk out the door than Jackson, and I like both of them.

Williams averaged 25 yards a carry against UNI. There's probably a happy medium between having to play him against Michigan and him not seeing the field.

I think the problem is we saw all of the RBs struggle against ISU when the holes weren't gaping - they all struggled to find cutback lanes and consistently get 4-5 yards.

Iowa doesn't need to get to a 5YPC vs Michigan to win this game, but they do need to be north of 4YPC. If Jackson has the vision and speed to do that, you ride it here.

Hopefully Kamari learned from that game and he'll be better against UM, but they need that to have a chance tomorrow.

Iowa should have hired the bald guy as OC as Lester has recruited too much talent
