**2026 Iowa Women’s Basketball Off-Season and Transfer Portal Thread**

If you wanted to coach college basketball and really care about the game and love doing it because you can develop and get to know players over a 4+ year period, all of this is awful.

It caused multiple recent NCAA National Championship coaches making $5m+ per year to just walk away and retire instead of dealing with this bullshit.

The only reason it is remotely tolerable is because Iowa lucked into the timing to get McCollum and he appears to be the real deal that can not only coach, but he can potentially navigate the portal.

But even to that point, he's going to lose a player that just hit a couple game winning shots and played out of his mind for a few games to get Iowa to the Elite 8 because of other $$ commitments, needs and the players desire and ability to get $3m in the portal.

It sucks.

It’s one of those rare times where I think a place like Iowa or even northern Iowa have a chance to excel in their respective conferences. Just enough money to get some decent players, but development and retention will be the big key, similar to UConn.

Still would like the lasses from Okie Lite and Western Illinois for depth. Also a 6-2 or 6-3 to play 4 and emergency depth at 5 (we only have two true posts. The star fr is more of a 3/4)

Carnegie > Stremlow at 2; and
Stremlow > Feuerbach at 3

Chit Chat and Heiden will both be better too. Journey Houston should be an even better glue piece at 3/4. Although preferably only ever at 4 vs small teams.

she committed to oregon but then ended up at byu where her mom was the coach. her mom got fired and she transferred to oklahoma state. now shes at iowa
