This is an idiotic take for schools like Iowa. They have decent to very good local home grown talent that will come and develop and stay loyal over the whole time and likely offer you a discount.

Iowa would be insane to not recruit high schoolers.

Conversely, I also didn’t include any of the UNI or other power conference guys cuz IDGAF and know nothing about them. Simply responding to and agreeing with Doug’s take that dominating in Iowa and supplementing as needed isn’t a terrible strategy. For the reasons he indicated.

@eclone 's list is good, but yeah want to extend that to all Iowa born or lived in players. You won't get them all of course, but you have to try.

If you go out even further to Iowa legacy players, you absolutely want to recruit HS players that have connection to the program. I know he is way beyond 10 years, but that gets you players like Marble and Koch.

Overall point is that the Iowa's in the world would be insane to not only recruit HS players, but heavily recruit them and make them their base of players each year and supplement with the transfer portal.
