Two way doesn't mean he is stuck on it. If I remember correctly, this can be a precursor to get him locked in and then can do a full contract during or after training camp. It gives them more flexibility with the roster.

Also can't spend more than 45 days with the NBA team. NBA rosters are 15 players on regular contracts, plus they're allowed to sign two more players to two-way deals. If team wants player in NBA longer has to sign them to full deal
