The final straw was when he went into full pout mode. He’d had the turnover, then tried Trayce in the post and was swatted then I think had a foul on the other end. He just stood down there for like 15 seconds. They were calling for him, Mulvey went down to try to get him going and he just walked the 80 feet. Fran just waved his arms away at him and sat him.

Perkins came out because got hurt on that inbound play in front of the Iowa bench.

Not the first time where he benched him with like 7 minutes left for most of crunch time. That was because he was being bitchy.

Also not sure if it showed at all on TV but Rebraca fucking lit up Kris during a timeout in the shit show start. Fran was losing it, Rebraca was screaming at Kris to wake up then got in his face. He was being so weird to start this game.

The worst part of the officiating was that Trayce was able to do whatever he wanted and got every fucking call like he was Jordan. Both ends. The last two looked so soft down there and I still can’t figure out how they didn’t call goaltending on his 3 point play. I thought Fran was getting run on that one after the huddle.

Since I got CALLED OUT in the other thread, I'll put it in the more active thread here.

It was nice that Iowa won tonight, but it changed nothing. This is still a lost team and lost season for the most part. Sure, they are going to pull off some big wins and will be fun to watch on multiple nights, but.....

Spoiler alert - at best Iowa might go 9-11 in conference. Maybe they get to .500, but more likely they end up around 8-12 in conference and not even considered for post season play.

To even make a run at the NCAA Tournament they will need to go something like 10-6 the rest of the way AND win at least 2 games in the BTT to MAYBE sneak in.

Iowa has zero depth. Multiple guys are hurt. Perkins and Ulis are a mess. Pat is sitting on the bench in street clothes. The schedule starts to pick up with more and more games.

Kris played all 40 minutes. Rebecca played 38. Connor played 36. That just isn't sustainable and they won't stay healthy. Fran is going to have to pull magic out of a hat and get multiple guys going for a prayer of turning the season around.

Enjoy the wins they get this year, there will be some fun ones. There will also be a lot more brutal losses coming.

It's even more than that....

- 100% health for Kris Murray and Rebecca
- Perkins wakes up healthy and motivated and plays like he did at the end of last year / start of this year
- Pat gets healthy and accepts a role as the 5th or 6th offensive option, learns to play some defense and rebounds
- Sandfart becomes the player everyone thought he would be
- Ulis becomes the good version of Anthony Clemons
- Dix and Bowen continue to get more minutes and develop

If all of that happens, they might finish 11-9 in the Big Ten, win a game in the BTT and sneak in as a 9 or 10 seed.

I hope it is repeatedly stated and beat in to his head that Iowa made that comeback and won that game with his pouting ass sitting on the bench. Iowa doesn’t need him; perfectly capable of being a mediocre basketball team without him. But they’re actually WORSE with him on the floor when he’s playing like that.

Given his high anxiety struggles right now, my feeling is that being with the team closely on the bench like he is will benefit him more if/when he returns, than staying away from the games and then trying to rejoin the team after staying away from the team.
