I may have missed it and it didn't matter, but was there a reason given for why Howard started over Banks?

Stirtz is a good player, but he's had chance after chance with the game on the line to hit a big shot and he's failed pretty much every time. He either gives up the shot, turns it over or chucks a shot with no chance. I think maybe the Minnesota game was the only one he ever actually hit a meaningful late shot, and they lost that game.

Because he is a total dumbfuck and went to the bar with Michigan players after the last game.
Michigan players stayed and partied in Iowa City after a weeknight game? That seems believable.

🤣

Banks likes to get fucked up. I get it
Great look from him after McCollum let him off easy to start the season with no suspension when he got arrested for drinking and assault. It's why you don't ever do that, always punish them or they don't learn.

He for sure was at the bar and someone called it out on social media. Herbie mentioned that 3rd hand he was out with Michigan guys as they didn't fly out until the following morning.

Even better if he comes back next year

I have another question which totally doesn't matter.

I know we will probably be bringing in a few transfers, but what do you think next year's starting 5 would be with just the guys we currently have coming back?

Combs
Howard
Banks
Kock
Manyawu?

There's a reason why I'm asking that

That's a 10-22 type team, so doesn't really matter.

The portal will be critically important this offseason
At a minimum it appears we need a PG, SG, and a tall big.

I guess the reason I'm asking is that it kind of appears that Ben likes to stick with "his guys."

Just thinking out loud, but would it be possible that next year's starting 5 is simply just:

Stirtz's Replacement
Combs
Banks
Koch
Manyawu?

Banks getting an extra year would be a good thing.

I really think next season will be more like a typical year one.

They are tough at home. Did not expect to force over time. The offense seems designed to waste clock, not score points which is a problem.

If you are gonna discipline banks sit him out the whole game. He was a spaz today. maybe play hausen.

I know some might chalk it up to not being able to close out a game or whatever, but Iowa is one of the unluckiest teams in the nation as well. A lot of it is simply luck in these close games.

All that matters is they get in the tournament, and they are certainly in.

I'm hoping they get 2 starters out of the portal. I also hope Combs doesn't start but he probably will. He's a solid 12-15 mpg guy off the bench.

Combs has tools but stirtz has thoroughly broken his mind and spirit.

I want a scoring PG and a 6'11" or taller rim protector.

But might be asking for too much

I think Koch is the obvious x factor on this team as a young guy who can take a big step forward. If he and Sage both take that next step, might be fine with one portal starter and a portal shooter off the bench who can also play D (basically what Hausen was supposed to be).

We gave up enough wide open looks without having Hausen out there lost as fuck.

Very possible plus that's going to be a lot of money. We might realistically have to go with something like this:

This starting rotation of:
portal pg
portal shooter
Banks
Koch
Cam

Than you have Sage, Howard, and Combs off the bench. Folgers can be the occasional 9th guy or he can fuck off. Either way, I think that's a pretty good rotation.

If you’re taking last 10 seconds, sure. He’s hit the dagger put away shot in several games.

I'm also not sure our current non-Drake portal additions have convinced Ben that transfers are the answer
