Honestly the fact they were dcown 63-44 with basically all young guys playing and made it 70-68 is pretty damn impressive. Purdue is legit top 5 and matchup nightmare for us except when we got the press going and completely turned it on them.

The press was incredible and will be strong throughout the season like we thought. Kris, Keegan, Joe T, Patrick, and Ullis (or Perkins) will be a nasty, nasty defensive group. I really like watching this team -- this loss shouldn't stress anyone out. Iowa was missing their best player and competed with the #1 team in the country. The odds had Iowa at +16.5 -- this was a good showing. If Iowa didn't miss their free throws and 2 stretches went differently, they could have kept the game within 5 most of the game.

Fran -->
Minus Connor, more/less happy with what I saw out of Fran with regards to playing time. Against teams like Purdue, Josh O definitely needs his minutes. Against teams that don't have a dominant big, play Fran ball.

Connor -->
Connor's PT needs to fuck off unless there's an injury. He's a great back up point guard to have on this roster. If Joe T or Ullis were to get hurt, you're psyched he's there. Otherwise, like others have said, his minutes need to be sub-10.

Perkins -->
A lot to like. Just needed to prove he can shoot and he's more or less hit his open shots so far this season. He can get to the rack and create off the dribble which is welcome around here.

Filip -->
Against bigger teams, he's way undersized and is not going to play very well. Will likely not play a ton in those games and that's okay.

Josh O -->
Conditioning is still a thing (and may always be?). Liked what I saw with regards to some of his development. Solid minutes -- doesn't look to have a naturally soft touch. If he sticks it out and continues to put in the work, I think he could have a solid senior season as a starter.

Lastly, Hawkeye Elvis is about to die.

Perkins starting over bohannon seems about due. In a few weeks, we could see Kris earning a starting role too as the light comes on.

Someone said it in chat and Patrick is great in transition but he’s never really been able to fit into the structure of the offense. He just makes up his mind that he’s going to shoot no matter what way too often. It can be really entertaining to watch him but also really frustrating at times.

I'm not seeing Ogundele as a long-term option at center. First, I'm a little embarrassed that the U of I has his body on display in a uniform. The morphology is hard for me to understand. And then there's the lack of skill. Two times he got away with a travel before a bucket because the refs didn't understand what they were seeing. He has to play this year and I don't think he'll be awful, but Mulvey has to be a better option than Ogundele sooner rather than later.
