The bench was 0-11 and did not score. The only stat of points, rebounds, assists was Connor with 3 rebounds. 39 minutes. But Patrick!!
I hate everyone. The bench has been fucking terrible lately but I hate our starters too. I just wish I would see more pressing. The second unit as a whole can't score so at least let them pick up the energy a bit.

Holy fucking shit, they just showed the 'highlights' from the game, and they showed a replay of that "foul" on Keegan with 1.9. Keegan has his hands up and as Harper is stepping back from him to create space, that's when Green makes the foul call.

Unfuckingbelievable.

(also, I'm pretty sure he was the one that gave Wisconsin the anticipatory phantom whistle on a clean pocket pick and steal by NW that sealed the deal for the Badgers last night. And here I thought Larry "The Troll" Scirotto was the fucking worst)

Our starting 5 is not a very good offensive group.

bohannon gets to play on 2 teams with the top scorers in the entire country and he suddenly can’t shoot. What a fag.

I realize that Patrick sucks, bohannon is a pussy, Fran can’t put a lineup together, Connor blows, The Key is a spaz but that foul is NEVER called at that stage of the game. Not in any conference much less the Big 10. What a fucking joke.

Might I add, “it’s not the reason we lost” is one of my least favorite lines ever. How do you fucking know? It was a shit ass call with 1.9 seconds left made 20 feet from the basket. I choose to believe it played a large part in deciding the game.

FUCK! Shit like that pisses me off. You’ve officiated the entire game one way then you’re going to make that call to decide it? Holy shit!

Bring it in!
The call very much could have cost us the game. Or if it’s not called we might have lost in OT. Or Rutgers might have scored a walk off as time expired. Maybe the bad call improved our chances because instead of OT or a basket at the buzzer for Rutgers it set up Murray for an open shot for the win.

So yeah, it may have cost the game. But we could also have played competently on offense and had the game put away by then, so focusing on that call is pointless.

You putting the game film together, coach? Let’s focus on the other 39 minutes, boys!

This is our best lineup but dipshit Fran never plays it. bohannon fucking sucks. Conner is who he is at this point, and Pat is an absolute mess out there. Fran worries too much about guys fouling out which is especially dumb when you insist on going 11 deep.

I'm not saying the wave-off of JoeT's layup at the halftime buzzer was absolutely the wrong call, but there is absolutely no fucking way Green - or either of the other two refs - can DEFINITIVELY tell if he still had a finger tip on that ball before the clock hit all zeroes. We're all watching on 43 inch, or much bigger, HD/4K TVs and they get to review shit on those little tiny crap TVs. Never gonna convince me that shouldn't have been anything but a "stands as called on the floor, because of lack of irrefutable evidence to the contrary".

This team can’t do anything against an athletic team that kinda tries on defense. That’s pretty much it.

Fran’s offense/style is generally entertaining as hell, but it’s kinda like B12 football offenses suddenly getting their shit pushed in against a decent defense.

Could be worse. Could be better. Here we are.
This is a good narrative but easily refuted over the last couple years.
-Illinois is really athletic with a top 20 defense. We scored 83 on them in a 72 possession game.
-Indiana is athletic and 13th in defense. We scored 83 in a 72 possession game.
-Depending on how you classify Wisconsin, we scored 78 on a 71 possession game against the 35th best defense.
Iowa State was bad, Purdue was 70 points in a 76 possession game but that was just missing open 3's. Every other area was good.

Go back to last year and we were held under 1 point per possession 4 times in 31 games. Put up huge offensive numbers against Purdue, Illinois (once), MSU, Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin.

You can't have a top 5 offense playing in the Big Ten if you get shut down by every athletic team that tries on defense.

Well that’s pretty fucking dumb. What do you think the odds are for a team shooting 2 free throws in a tie game with 2 seconds left? What do you think the odds are if that foul isn’t called?

Now I’m quite certain Iowa would have fucked this ending up regardless, but that was a gift no matter how you look at it.

So people can stop bitching about the game being too physical?

Why did Patrick shoot Rebraca FTs instead of bohannon?
Was PMac in the game at the time Rebraca was hurt and lifted?

I don't remember, but unless the rule was changed, it used to be that if the fouled player was hurt and had to leave the game, the replacement shooter had to be from someone coming off the bench ...... right?

That's what I thought too. Must have changed.

Why do you think Ulis is a part of Iowa's best lineup? He is pretty much a non-factor offensively.

Keegan is a stud, rebounded well and wasn't the main problem. but that was like one of Uthoff's frustrating games. He wasn't even trying to screen, post hard or call for the ball. The possession late where Jordan got blocked he had it with 5 seconds left when we needed a bucket and chose to give it up immediately. We couldn't get a bucket for 7 minutes and he wanted no part of a shot.

This is a joke right? I thought the coach picks or you have to sub and the sub shoots.
It's not a joke. Unless I'm crazy, the opposing coach gets to choose a player who is already on the floor. It prevents teams from faking injuries to put in their best shooter on the bench and also prevents the opposing coach from picking a scrub.

Interesting call for sure. Which is why college bball gets a bad rap sometimes. Inconsistent officiating seems to be the rule rather than the exception.

If true, that’s some much needed unintentional comedy.

That foul. How can you call that foul? With 1.9 seconds left in a tie game, 20’ from the basket.
You just. don’t. do. it.
Cannot believe that call was made and decided the game.

You're right. bohannon, Keegan Toussaint and PMac were the remaining 4 on the court. Not sure what Mccoy thinks happened.

I hope Fran stabs somebody.

The whole team pretty much looked like shit but they were getting held and chipped on every screen. Our merry gang of homos couldn’t adjust to the physicality.

But it really sucks that this is the type of game Iowa needs on their resume as a win to help their tournament chances. Their margin for error significantly narrowed tonight.
oh, @Whatever. This was a coin flip game.

I would argue that Illinois and Indiana are fine with running all night thinking they will outscore you regardless. We’ve put up a fuckton of points against both and still managed to lose.

I’ll give you Wisconsin, but they aren’t really athletic, just a bunch of assholes wreaking havoc on defense making the officials call a foul every time (a la Sparty and Izzo the midget cunt).

Iowa State this year was the epitome of brutality. Oregon last year was the same. Purdue has shoved it down our throats repeatedly.

I’m sure there are exceptions, but it feels like an athletic D that tries even a little will buttfuck us without much effort.

Dribbling with his head down, going laterally and not impacted in any way. 25 feet away with 2 seconds left. That call is very rarely made with 15 minutes left in the first half. It was insane in that situation with how the game had been called.

We should have chucked more. We passed up too many okay looks early in possessions. Played right into their hands.

My understanding is that the standard is supposed to be, "indisputable evidence". Objectively that was not indisputable.

You guys that are bitching about iowa being soft likely teach your kids to hack all fucking game at youth tournaments while bitching at the refs and then wonder why the national cycle of shitty physical basketball continues.

My oldest wears #40, screams and dances guarding inbounds passes, knocks people to the floor on screens, and already has two chipped teeth.

It is glorious.
