Absolutely not. You give his minutes to the guys that are going to be bringing the program back from the dead. No one said bench him. Spread his minutes to the guys that can use the experience.

This is another throw away year for the program. The argument is that you're not going to have some kind of huge drop off in wins if Gatens doesn't play 35 minutes a game. It's just not going to happen. He's not that kind of talent. Sorry.

I hope I'm wrong but we can revisit this thread after Iowa wins 15 games minimum or the 10-13 that I think they'll win.

I will say it again. It's beyond pathetic to see these two programs in such rotten shape.

They won't be for long. Both of them will be pretty good next year.

I'm thinking ISU will need a great PG to be a good team. ISU has talented basketball players, but without a great point I don't see them much better or organized than they are now.

I'm an Iowa fan and I know that clouds my judgment, but I like Iowa's trajectory a lot more.

The Hawks just need players, that looks like it might be changing next year.

Or at least that is what I thought you were arguing which is plain from my post you quoted above. At the time Gatens was the leading scorer and was giving great effort, at least from the games I had seen. So you aren't quite as vindicated as you were desperate to establish tonight.

my position has always been that Gatens isn't very good and that younger guys weren't going to give you much of a drop off. Its true. It had nothing to do with him being a senior and everything to do with him sucking ass.

I watched some of the game again, and Marble is a legit player. The better the competition gets and the more he is asked to do, the better he plays.

His move at the end of the 1st half to score was a big time move. Once he gets stronger and can have even a modest jump shot he will be a great player.
