If basketball is a priority for Connor, he should shitcan baseball and spend April-August shooting 3s all day.
Although from the looks of his shot, he should be spending Nov - March hitting baseballs. If basketball is a priority for Connor, he should shitcan baseball and spend April-August shooting 3s all day.

I'm sure that's there's been a player that's been transformed from major bricklayer to decent shooter sometime in the history of college basketball but I just can't think of anyIf basketball is a priority for Connor, he should shitcan baseball and spend April-August shooting 3s all day.
Naz Long did it by putting in the time. He had a HORRIBLE looking shot his freshman year. Completely transformed it to the point that he's on a 2-way NBA contract thanks largely to his shooting.I'm sure that's there's been a player that's been transformed from major bricklayer to decent shooter sometime in the history of college basketball but I just can't think of anyIf basketball is a priority for Connor, he should shitcan baseball and spend April-August shooting 3s all day.

Doug McDermott?I think Bryce Drew was the last college basketball player to play for his dad who didn't end up being hated/resented by his team's fans.
Fran has had players do this:I'm sure that's there's been a player that's been transformed from major bricklayer to decent shooter sometime in the history of college basketball but I just can't think of anyIf basketball is a priority for Connor, he should shitcan baseball and spend April-August shooting 3s all day.

Lol. Iowa is 16-4 and lost to a Top 5 team and suddenly Connor and Pat are going to get Fran fired.I'm late to this party, but Connor is playing terrible right now, and is simply not a 20+ minutes a game Big Ten player at this point. His defense is horrible - I'm not sure you can even call it defense. There is nothing he does well on defense. The dribbling with no purpose, or worse yet, picking up the dribble at 28 feet, is inexcusable for a "point guard." Don't get me started about the occasions he thinks he can drive, especially with his right hand. He provides no threat offensively, terrible shooter. Izzo subbed in a fucking scrub for Winston at one point when Connor came in. I mean, one of the best coaches in college basketball history has enough faith in a walk-on level player to handle Connor that he gives Winston a break. That says a lot. Connor's entry passes aren't even that good, which is probably the best thing he does. Some of his mistakes are junior high level bad, and he's the fucking coach's son. A late in the half situation with Connor dribbling the clock out for a kick out to Baer is such bad coaching. With all of this said, keep in mind, Connor played 20+ minutes.
I've always felt the only way that a son/dad situation works is if the player is clearly the best player on the team (See McDermott's, Greg and Doug), otherwise it ends up getting you fired eventually. I hope I'm wrong because I want Iowa basketball to succeed, but from what I've seen over the last 5 or 6 games, I'm afraid the McCaffery boys will end up leading to the end of Fran at Iowa.
I'm under the impression that he is a pretty high quality baseball player as well. That, along with his terrible offensive game, is a good reason to focus on baseball. That said, I do like that he brings a toughness, intensity, and red-assness that no one else on the team really brings.I just don't understand how a guard not blessed with great athleticism or size, with two parents that played in college, and access to facilities and coaching that most kids could only dream of, could be a poor shooter. Even if his shots don't fall, you'd think his form would be Jok-esque. Even his handle is average, at best. He gets by with a solid understanding of the game and the ability to feed the post.
He's, like, third-most handsome on the team at best. Riley's obviously #1, then I'd put bohannon. Then either Connor or Pemsl at 3 (he has nice dimples). Dailey would be in the conversation, too, if he weren't so tall and slender. He looks like young Dave Chapelle out there. If he gets jacked and starts looking like old Dave Chapelle then he'd probably be in the conversation, too.Connor is a handsome man.
That's an ugly, ugly shot though.
I forgot about him. He's in the mix for the 3 spot.Isaiah Moss is Top 3 for sure. Lol at Dailey being mentioned before Moss.
It took Fletch one minute to come up with an example to blow up the previous quote. Well done sirDoug McDermott?I think Bryce Drew was the last college basketball player to play for his dad who didn't end up being hated/resented by his team's fans.
Yeah, I'm not going that far. He's been a net positive for the team overall but his game needs a lot of work.Yep, there it is. It took one loss to a top 5 team. We also have the new whipping boy. After a night where the offense had a brutal stretch and he had 5 assists to 0 turnovers
I think he can be a solid contributor but anybody who thinks he would have been a top hundred player with a different last name is kidding themselvesHe's a good role player. I think people were expecting more from a guy who was borderline top 100 recruit so maybe that's some of the angst I'm reading here. He's clearly limited but light-years better than seeing Brady Ellingson check in.
He's got three more seasons to get better and I assume the jumper will come along.
Not one game. He's been terrible most of the Big Ten season.Yep, there it is. It took one loss to a top 5 team. We also have the new whipping boy. After a night where the offense had a brutal stretch and he had 5 assists to 0 turnovers
Funny that you bring this up after a loss, though. Not one game. He's been terrible most of the Big Ten season.Yep, there it is. It took one loss to a top 5 team. We also have the new whipping boy. After a night where the offense had a brutal stretch and he had 5 assists to 0 turnovers
I said the end of Fran, not fired. Iowa rarely fires.Lol. Now let me tell you about the difference between correlation and causation....At 16:25 Iowa was up 7 and Cmc subbed in for Moss. Thought it seemed early, if anyone shoulda sat then it was bohannon.
When Cmc left iowa was down 8
He does fuck on the first date, though. His last posts on the basketball board about Iowa:Funny that you bring this up after a loss, though. Not one game. He's been terrible most of the Big Ten season.
-11/27 hoping Pemsl wouldn't play, thanking God that Pemsl was having surgery and lamenting that Ellingson ever played here.
I think the previous 50 were all about Ellingson. It's kind of like the guys that Frodo points out on the Football board that only post after losses. He is very consistent though.
Why was CMC playing rather than out locking down the four hour radius? At 16:25 Iowa was up 7 and Cmc subbed in for Moss. Thought it seemed early, if anyone shoulda sat then it was bohannon.

I’m too lazy to look it up but isn’t his assist-turnover similar to Gesells career average? I thought it was and everyone bitches about his assist numbersConnor is tied for 19th in the country in assist-turnover ratio (third among freshmen and second among all players with zero starts this season). I will take that even if it comes with some flaws.
They play sort of the same way, so it would make sense.I’m too lazy to look it up but isn’t his assist-turnover similar to Gesells career average? People bitch about Gesell's numbers because he never fed the post and largely threw nothing but safe passes.I’m too lazy to look it up but isn’t his assist-turnover similar to Gesells career average? Well, that and the whole finishing at the rim when he had the last shot of the game.People bitch about Gesell's numbers because he never fed the post and largely threw nothing but safe passes.I’m too lazy to look it up but isn’t his assist-turnover similar to Gesells career average? I’m not blaming the marketing department at all. MSU is a better team than Iowa. But they did the exact same thing for the Wisconsin game with regard to free tickets for students along with all the social media and reporters asking the players about it before the game. Iowa shot 6-24 from 3 that game. 5-24 last night. That’s a new one. Don’t remember the marketing department being a scapegoat after a loss. Still probably more correct than blaming Connor.
The marketing department needs to get people in the arena and create a big time atmosphere. For most teams, that helps them, not hurts them.I’m not blaming the marketing department at all. I’m sure the players want to perform well in that spot and sometimes that works against you.
