Texas has a shitload of 4/5 star QBs on the roster with Arch Manning coming in next year. Maybe the Iowa staff can make a few calls?
that wouldn’t be sporting. or fair to Spencer during his COVID year after all he’s investedTexas has a shitload of 4/5 star QBs on the roster with Arch Manning coming in next year. Maybe the Iowa staff can make a few calls?
He's not getting fired and he's not resigning. He just needs to stop being such a FUCKING IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Seriously, stop it with this shit. Kirk (and Brian for that matter) have won nearly 10 games per year since 2015. Haven't won less than 8 games in a season (not counting the COVID year where they would have won 10 if it was a full season) over that time. They are landing 5* recruits.
Now more than a few people want him fired or to resign? You've lost your fucking minds worse than Kirk has.
Well, no shit, so just say that. He's not getting fired and he's not resigning. He just needs to stop being such a FUCKING IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, that is the key. Brian either has to go, or more likely, take another job at the end of the season.I’m with you on Kirk, douglas, but we part ways on his son, Brian
There will be a ton of them chomping at the bit to come be part of the offensive laughingstock of college football.Texas has a shitload of 4/5 star QBs on the roster with Arch Manning coming in next year. Maybe the Iowa staff can make a few calls?
Because they fucking suck, Doug. Can I also point out, even with as bad as this is, they still were kicking a FG in the rain to tie that game and go into OT. It isn't like Iowa State blew the out.

I won't stick up for the playcalling, but it's not like Brian is consistently an idiot. The stats have been kind of shit overall since he took over as OC, but BF's offenses put up 40+ three times in conference/bowl play in 2017 and 2018 and twice in 2019. (The last time a point-scoring stretch like that occurred was 2001-03, as best as I can tell.)Brian wants to start Padilla. He's being overruled.
I'm just asking a question - what's the buyout? I honestly don't know.For fuck's sake, settle down guys.
Fire Kirk? He should resign?
Lolz. What a bunch of morons. I'm as pissed as anyone but this is just silly.
That's my pointAnd whose fault is that?
Brian = regressionI won't stick up for the playcalling, but it's not like Brian is consistently an idiot. And then 2020 came along and the bottom fell out. Not coincidentally, that was Petras' first year as starter. (Stanley had an ugly tendency to get the yips during key moments of games, but not long ago I realized that if they hadn't burnt his redshirt against NDSU he would have still had eligibility last year thanks to COVID, and imagine the 2020-21 teams with a competent QB, and oh, look, there's the red haze of murderous rage again.)
I really don't think it's Brian, if only for the fact that they've gimped the offense before to shoehorn their preferred starter in (see e.g. 2012 James Vandenberg). Kirk somehow thinks that if he just throws Petras to the wolves one more time it'll click and he'll sling dimes, and after three years it's obvious to everyone else on staff that he won't.
The only other explanation is that somehow starting that moron for three years is part of the deal to get Lainez in the room, which, at this point, cannot be worth it even if the kid is Mahomes 2.0. Cut bait and find literally anyone else. Cy Phillips wasn't this bad, and he got buried by Jason Manson, for fuck's sake.
We need to recruit at least two WRs a year. There’s no excuse for our current depth chart at the position. While the staff is making calls to QBs, mix in a few to some WRs.
2020 is the highest scoring offense Brian has had.I won't stick up for the playcalling, but it's not like Brian is consistently an idiot. I wonder how many attractive QB coach candidates would take the job without being OC. That’s a pretty common combination. Unfortunately, Iowa looked at it and decided to make the combination from the top instead of vice versa. It's because they don't know shit about the QB position. Maybe instead of handing the QB job over to Brian, they should have, I dunno, hired an actual QB fucking coach. Would have been a good start.
LolNo it’s not.
I had to go back and look at that 2012 team because I remembered them being so bad at 4-8.I won't stick up for the playcalling, but it's not like Brian is consistently an idiot. In a sane organization blinding, sustained incompetence is not a luxury.Seriously, stop it with this shit. Kirk (and Brian for that matter) have won nearly 10 games per year since 2015. Would you feel the same way if there is no change at offensive coordinator after the season?Kirk isn’t leaving or getting fired. In college football 2022, however, the distance from 10 wins to compete program-wide rebuild is 1/10th the distance it’s ever been before.
Eat shit you fucking piece of shit n00b. Don't ever respond to a post of mine again without messaging me first to ask permission. In a sane organization blinding, sustained incompetence is not a luxury.
KF can't share the actual answer because "they were incredulous and told me to go fuck myself, but I'm sticking with my guy anyways" isn't family friendly.I’d be on the verge of committing murder if I were Phil Parker.
I think there is a chance we’re fucked. Kirk isn't getting fired, not after one bad year. History tells you he’ll figure it out, but his kid has never been the problem.Would you feel the same way if there is no change at offensive coordinator after the season?
To be honest, I'm more interested in what the offense looks with a not-Petras on the field, BF or no.Would you feel the same way if there is no change at offensive coordinator after the season?
1 - Brian isn't going anywhereYes, that is the key. Brian either has to go, or more likely, take another job at the end of the season.
Like changing quarterback1 - Brian isn't going anywhere
2 - If he did, how would that fix things?
I am not convinced that removing Brian would make Kirk good at math and personnel decisions.I’m not at all convinced the program/administration can successfully navigate a Brian exit after the season.
That’s why a guy like Wade is hedging so hard on his sucking despite his performance. Gotta be in a position to try to justify his retention.
2020 was so weird. To be honest, I'm more interested in what the offense looks with a not-Petras on the field, BF or no.
I had hope for Petras after 2020, but in the last ten games we're 5-5 and he's gotten worse as it's gone along. Spencer Petras is killing this team and it's time to cut bait on him at least.
Again, picture what 2020-21 could have been with Stanley at the reins; that's an alternate reality in which there's a lot less chatter about Brian's job performance. Petras can't quarterback himself out of a wet paper sack, and at least Padilla isn't a statue.
Nobody knows because Kirk Ferentz's buyout couldn't be less relevant.I'm just asking a question - what's the buyout? I honestly don't know.
We all agree Brian has to go and someone else has to take over on offense, what if Kirk is as stubborn after the season about his OC as he his his QB? After that game Saturday, I couldn't believe anyone would stick by Petras, I was wrong. What if we're all assuming the same about OC and are wrong?
We were ranked second in the nation. And now we've fallen to this. Fucking pathetic.2020 was so weird.
Some of Petras issues were apparent in the first start. The happy feet, being uncomfortable in the pocket etc. I think most reasonable people chalked it up to him not having spring ball and a weird Covid season. Everything was off schedule.
But after fumbling away the Purdue game and Brian throwing the ball 372 times against NW for some reason, the offense put up some points in games, then Iowa beat Wisconsin pretty convincingly. It wasn’t unreasonable to assume things would continue into next season and be a bit better. Sure, we lost ISM but it wasn’t like he was Tyreek Hill or something, we had guys coming in, etc.
I don’t think anyone thought it would get this bad. The post 2021 Penn St euphoria turned to this pretty quick in the grand scheme of things.
Well yeah they’re not power rankings dipshitTo be fair, anyone who thought last year's team, even immediately after Penn State, was anything close to resembling a #2 team were huffing paint thinner.
The fact that a coach feels the need to say that is quite something.Kirk today:
"We're not trying to drive this train off the road by any stretch. It's not an intentional derailment. "

Accidental derailment. Not on purpose. The fact that a coach feels the need to say that is quite something.
I refuse to believe that this is an accurate quote. No way.Kirk today:
