Charlie Jones is within spitting distance of two years of production in one game. Charlie fucking Jones. Iowa’s offense is a fucking disgusting joke. Getting the ball results in a drive where they’re in better position to score like a quarter of the time. .186 offensive possessions ended with a touchdown last year. The 0 this year is BARELY worse than that. Punts, completions, and first downs were all about equal and more than points scored. “Snort, Spencer’s our guy, noise out there is louder than in here…”
Punting is winning hurrr durrr.

Punts are turnovers.

Where's the loyalty to the other quarterbacks they've recruited? Kirk does an amazing job of not losing the locker room.
I'm sure that the pitch to Labas while he was being recruited was entirely honest.

"Joey, we really want you at Iowa. You'll of course be behind Spencer Petras on the depth chart. That will persist no matter how badly he plays, or what you do in practice. I emphasize in practice because you will not be seeing the field unless Petras is injured or leaves our program."

After getting 3 or 4 first downs and flipping the field? Yes. As it is, it’s just slightly better than a coin flip if they’ll get a single first down, and when the offense gets the ball they LOSE scoring value.

How bout Padilla- comes in with no game experience. Plays decent and adds a dimension of being able to move the pocket. Beats Minnesota. Has 2? Drives the next week and is promptly replaced by Petras who does nothing yet gets all the snaps from then till now.

Iowa came back from behind to win that game too. Which they then used to say “See! Peaches is our guy!” But they came back with D and a couple plays. He was still the same shitty guy. He gets lucky one or two plays and VALIDATED! Even when the rest is garbage.

Padilla basically played the whole Northwestern game also which was offensively terrible.
The Illinois game, even with drops, was on par with Saturday's performance, especially considering he at least had more than 1 non-pasty white WR.

Peteas cannot possibly be the best qb on the roster.
I don’t think Padilla could possibly be, either, but if Spencer is not the clear worst… YEEEEESH.

I guess I want to believe there is an option that offers hope for something better.

At least the others haven't really had a chance like Spencer has to develop. Maybe they don't want to further waste the D on development. I would think the mobility factor has to help. Plus, with Petras not being able to complete simple throws to move the chains and INTs what are you really losing.

Not their fault that they are not D1 QB's. The coaching staff is responsible for the product they put on the field. Petras is what he is, and the coaching staff has had three years to do something about it.

Petras played the first 2 or 3 drives of that game and was SDSU level bad. Padilla came in and the offense immediately zipped up and down the field until Iowa got the two score lead and Kirk/Brian turtled up the offense.

Padilla might be a below average BiG QB but how can he be worse than a 1.1 QB rating against an FCS school?

True, but QBR isn’t exactly friendly for Padilla either

I'm confident that Padilla would/could achieve 1.1 QBR and Halo will then bitch about him and demand Labas, who threw the most INTs in practice.

Let me ask you this, Mr. Cyclone Fan.

Which QB would you rather face on Saturday, Petras or Padilla?
Petras. 100 out of 100. He’s a sitting duck for McDonald and the safety blitzes. The SEMO QB was sneaky athletic and caused some issues for the ISU defense with his legs.

Weaker arm by far, shorter, but yes his decision making and feel within the pocket was like night and day.
Unless you have been going to practice, I don’t think we could know that for sure. Even if it is true, what good is arm strength if you can’t hit a target? Padilla is the better option as we saw that last year. he had a short leash because KF and BF can’t admit they are wrong about Peaches.

You could argue that he has the strongest arm of any QB in the Ferentz era. He definitely has a stronger arm than Padilla.

You cannot argue that he isn’t the worst QB of the Ferentz era, though. He definitely is.

Really going out on a fucking limb here saying Iowa fans would be upset with another 1.1 QBR performance.

It really is amazing how fucking stupid you are

If I remember right Petras only played one series and it was clear he was too injured to throw the ball.
