"First and foremost, our goal is to win the game and we did. We certainly have some areas we need to work on with the offense, but style points in a victory has never been anything we're concerned with."
I feel like that has probably been said verbatim.

The six hour film session is probably reasonably convincing in an offseason. Not enough to cancel out the bad product on the field, but anyone talking about their craft for hours could sound sharp and prepared. The problem here is that the other guys are the same or better at it.
Correct, as was pointed out this summer about us dumb fans not getting it.

You're probably right, we don't. The problem is that opposing defensive coordinators who aren't dumb fans do really seem to get it.

Offensive touchdowns by game since the Maryland game last year:

SDSU - 0
Kentucky - 2
Michigan - 0
Nebrantska - 1
Illinois - 1
Minnesota - 3 (Padilla game)
Northwestern - 2 (Padilla game)
Wisconsin - 1
Purdue - 1
Penn St - 2

13 touchdown drives in 10 games, after 7 such drives in the Maryland game alone. That seems bad.
Next do how many yards and plays those drives went.

I’d really love to see a national comparison of these numbers and then have them put up on 15 billboards around Iowa City

Oh good, the team appears to be responding with stubbornness. That should go over well.
I get it though. Especially with the boos/TOXIC! stuff they heard Saturday. I don’t think you’re gonna get too many players to say “yeah we deserve it”.

Iowa went from 163 votes and 28th to 0 votes in the AP, which is actually pretty impressive off a win.

Somehow they are still 30th in the coaches’ poll.

Damn. I was hoping he just meant he wasn't going to comment on another player's injury, but the follow up sounds worse.

Wonder if Keagan was even on the sidelines on Saturday.

He might even consider recruiting a mobile quarterback. Hard to believe a program dedicated to ball control would put zero effort into recruiting qbs who could steal several first downs a game with their feet. Seems kind of racist, tbh.

Throwing Brian to the “wolves” tomorrow is a somewhat interesting move for Kirk. Hard to speculate as to motives, but could be a “this is your baby; own it” type move. Genuinely want to hear what he has to say. I think the odds of a full blown “circle the wagons and stay the course” message are about 90%, but hoping for a slip up or moment of candor.
