There have been at least 4 runs in the first 2 games where he completely whiffed the guy he was supposed to block because he was more interested in leveling the guy than engaging in an actual block. Naturally, the guy he was supposed to block made the tackle on all 4.
Must be a helluva a practice player again, b/c he has been awful in every respect of what he is supposed to be doing. Again KF appears the hypocrite to allow certain players such leeway in game performance where they completely fail at the things KF supposedly values like holding on to the ball and missing blocking assignments.

Is it time for Brian to take his giant fucking tits to the press box so he can actually see the entire atrocity unfold in real time instead of when he watches film 2 hours after the game?

Could that help? Would it hurt?
Yes, that would fucking help. He started there, then moved down and has gotten worse at every aspect of his fucking job. But his daddy likes him in the field.

It’s absolutely amazing that Kirk can look those guys in the face. He should truly be ashamed of himself. What they are doing is an insult to football.

I would like to see a question such as this on Tuesday: "Kirk, you appear to have grown more patient with regards to ball security and missed assignments or mistakes. Did you recall if this was a conscious decision or something that you feel has come with age?"

Jones is also proof of how negligent you have to be with the passing game to be this bad at it in 2022. He was a walk-on transfer from Buffalo. You could never offer another HS WR again and just go to the portal for MAC players who overperform as freshman, and Iowa would be better off.

But Iowa only hit the portal to bring in a blocking TE from the Patriot League. LMAO.
Iowa sucks at developing two positions - QB and WR. I think they should just "outsource" those spots like companies do. As you mention, just hit the portal each year for those spots. Obviously, still recruit the occasional high school QB or WR but grab some from the portal each year as well.

I’m worried that too much of the fanbase is going to become indifferent with Iowa Football instead of angry. We’re going to lose on the road to Rutgers. People are going to stop showing up. This is a very crucial period in college athletics with NIL as the rich get richer. It’s going to take a long time to build back that good will and the damage will be lasting.

Brian will resign after the season and Kirk will hire GDGD just like he rehired O’Keefe. I love Kirk but he is the problem and needs to retire.
Mark Whipple will be available. He is old and uses zone blocking.

I woke up at 4 am and tossed and turned as I have the last few, but one thought kept recurring:

FFS they had 2, not 1, but 2 blocked punts inside ISU territory along with 3 turnovers and STILL only managed to score 7 points.

It seems impossible, doesn’t it? It seems fucking impossible that that happened and 1 human took every fucking snap. At least the rest of college football pities us and the isu people in my life took exactly zero pleasure in that win because they, too, had to suffer through watching Iowa try to play offense.

Take this with a giant grain of salt. I’m only sharing because it’s a very interesting take that is just outlandish enough to be possible. It’s also hearsay and I wasn’t present. This is from someone I trust more than anyone and he hears it from his neighbor
You can’t have hair like Pottebaum and get all this unnecessary attention for being cool/funny/whatever and then just make horrible plays.

As in:
(1)Tripping over your feet with a wide open TD there for the taking in the conf title game.
(2) Fumbling on the goal line yesterday.
(3) Not telling your coach he’s an absolute dumbass for lining you up wide as if you’re a receiving “weapon”.

When we split out LaPorta and Pottebaum at the same time anyone watching laughs. I can only imagine how easy that is for DCs.
i especially appreciate the quick bubble screen to LaPorta. Because TE’s are typically great at making plays with their feet. BF is an absolute dumbass.

I’m just glad they’re sharing what little NIL money they have with the womens basketball team.

I disagree. Normal fan base you may be right. Iowa isn’t normal. There are so many fans that only watch Iowa FB and are completely clueless to anything else. They will never give up on the team. A loss like this is forgotten already. Excited to drink and watch next week. I for one think I have a tee time that will be made during next weeks game. I’m not watching that offense move the ball a total of 90 yards against fucking Nevada.

well….?
That was an oops. I started that while I was fucked up last night and didn’t finish. Here we go:

a very good friend of mine’s neighbor is a self proclaimed “big BF fan” and said that the OC job at New England was all but his until the racial allegations. That job is still vacant. Rumor is there were some moves by attorneys and that if that stuff gets cleared up it’s BFs job next season. Now, I don’t believe any of this and neither does my buddy. The idiot fucking neighbor believes it is the gospel. We had a good laugh last night when he told me over the phone. It was a “You’re gonna love this shit” sort of call. IF that were true, and it’s a giant fucking if, this showing has to take that opportunity away now, right? No way they give this dude a job.

There is ZERO chance Brian gets an OC job at a power 4 school or above that his dad doesn’t coach. Zero. He’s an absolute offensive moron with zero ability to evaluate quarterback talent. And that’s his job. He’s terrible at it, the offense is no better with him running it than they would be just making shit up on the fly.

Sorry for the abbreviation but that stands for New England. This idiot thinks BF is going to the show. He is also a self proclaimed “big BF fan.” I can’t stress that enough. They guy is clearly an idiot. It stifled the anger for a bit last night as I got a good laugh.

It blows my mind that they’re choosing to run the exact offensive system that they hammer into their defensive players minds to try and force the other teams offense to run. No big plays, make them move methodically down the field and wait for a mistake.

Is there a more incestuous, good ol boy career field than cfb/nfl football?

Wouldn’t surprise me.

There are so many things that KF has done for iowa football. And I love the way he coaches . I just don’t see why that means the offense has to be this way. You can still be a “conservative” team that preaches ball control and balance IMO. You just can’t be inept. We’re inept.

Is he another hire that is unqualified for the job and lacks the marketing and sales expertise to drum up donations?
I don't think he's the problem.

Here's the update

I can also share that football is extremely appreciative of all of the work that we are putting in on this. Not to say that MBB is not, but I think Fran is frustrated that he is losing recruits to NIL. I can't blame him. But we just don't have the donors currently who are looking to pay recruits to come here. Power and Estrella both are getting paid to go to other schools...we lost out at least partially because we had no NIL deal to offer.

Guys, I'm telling you, NIL is becoming more and more important. The sooner we spread the word, get people onboard and helping, the better our chances are of being successful on the field or on the court.

Then he needs to figure out how to sell the future to the big donors.

This is his full time job?

You do whatever you can to enlist Gary and Kirk and Fran etc and put together a campaign plan to sell the future.

This sounds like an incredible opportunity - how do you apply to run this thing? Sounds like a post-retirement job that would be nearly as much fun as trading stocks.

It was roughly 4 years ago that, right or wrong on some level, Brian was the front runner for the head coaching job. It was also clear from multiple comments that Kirk made he was setting him up for that and OC was the next step before that happened.

Unfortunately for Kirk and Brian, this plan has completely backfired to where Brian now has not only the reputation as a big fat fucking asshole, but also (more importantly) a terrible OC. He's a national laughing stock. Everyone sees him a the poster child for nepotism and with the Wadley stuff thrown in (even though it all seems to be actually made up) he is going to be unherdable in college football at anything beyond being a position coach.

The only way this resolves itself is Brian is going to have to either be fired (lol) by Garta, demoted by Garta, or Brian picks up his family and moves away from Iowa City and Grandpa Kirk and Grandma Mary back to being a nomad NFL position coach.

I guess there is one last option, and that is Brian and Kirk pull their fucking head out of their ass and put in another QB and change the offense to at least attempt to fit modern college football.

I vote for the last option.

Which is most likely a throwaway COA with no hopes of happening.
