The change has to be permanent. Petras should be moved to #3 on the depth chart so that Kirk isn't tempted to run him back out there at the first plausible opportunity.

I’m willing to acknowledge the vanishingly small possibility that it could somehow be even worse with anyone else if it makes Kirk and Bridawg feel better.

Like @Judge Kemp said that just makes him look even stupider for not making the switch this past week. You certainly shouldn't need a QB switch to beat Nevada, which implies you've seen enough to make the decision.

If possible, it makes the loss even more frustrating to me. Ferentz is essentially validating what everyone else saw and was calling for, but acknowledges either (1) he isn’t a good enough coach to have seen it as early as Joe Six-pack fan; or (2) he was willing to die stubbornly on his hill and lose a winnable game.

I have no idea. I do think that Spencer starts and if Padilla doesn't kill himself, he will play...just a little less (assuming the game is in hand, which is a ridiculous assumption to make).
