Last week I thought Petras' and Padilla's Dads were gonna fight in the parking lot. Their towns hated each other.
I was chanting "whore, whore, whore" at Spencer, so this checks out.

I think it’s telling we haven’t seen many, if any, audibles this year. Even though most are just zone to the short side, it tells me that the OL is very far behind schedule. That’s pretty sad considering strong OL play has been the most noticeable Iowa football identity under Ferentz. It’s especially sad when you have 2 OL gurus on the staff.
I'm not even sure that's an OL thing so much as a gimping the offense so our pants-shitting QB won't shit his pants as much thing.

The more I watch, the more I'm convinced they've dumbed down the playbook for the explicit purpose of trying to find something exceedingly simple that the pants-shitter can run without shitting his pants, and they can't because he'll shit his pants the moment he sees the scary padded people within three yards of him.

Also, mods, what is the acceptable form for a petition to make "Petras" auto-correct to "Pants-Shitter" a la The Criminal?

They aren’t as good as @tcondon (really enjoying his takes - mostly because I agree with him….also, he’s 42? Fuck, I remember when he was posting back on HROT….damn, we are all getting so old)…..but here’s some more trashing on the Iowa offensive dogshit:

A friend moved here from Fayetteville who knows one of UA's assistants. Said Iowa would be a perennial Top 15 team if they made just a couple obvious tweaks to their offense. Said everyone is mystified by KF's offensive philosophy. Has held them back from greatness.

Other coaches have been saying this for years. I greatly appreciate what he’s done over the years but what drives fans nuts is that we’ve been soooo close many times and cannot generate consistent momentum because of how our offense is structured and the lack of emphasis/adaptability when it comes to recruiting and retaining WRs or RBs. All the other components are in place. It’s maddening

I think this will almost certainly happen.
My sister flew to Iowa City from Charlotte last year and Ty Goodson’s grandmother sat next to her on the plane. Anyways, long story short, she spent half the flight listening to how “Petras sucks,” so I assume other family members shared that same sentiment.

Evidently Dochterman was on Harty's podcast (according to HR, I wouldn't listen to that shit) and claimed the offensive staff convinced Kirk to move on from Petras. Allow Padilla and Labas to compete in practice this week.

He woke up the next morning and decided against it, and it's starting to drive some tension.

The most baffling big picture issue to me is that Kirk lets his DC coordinators run the defense with what looks like little to no interference, and they have great success. You would think a CEO type person, which he should be, would look at his organization and apply the same philosophy to the offense. But, he doesn't seem to let his OC run the offense with without interference. I spent years bitching about KOK and celebrated when he left, but it is obvious that the OC's are doing what Kirk asks. That said, Brian sucks. Fire him bring in an imaginative OC and let him run the show.

If this is true this is a legitimate program level problem.

Ejecting Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz would be a good tweak

This is unforgivable if true

What is Harry’s podcast? I listened to Doc on Rob Howe’s and he didn’t say this (or I missed it as I did do some skipping when Howe was speaking).

I misread, it was Howe's podcast.
I’d need a time stamp to check, as I was listening with the interpretation of what you posted in mind, I did hear some blatant suggestions that if this was Brian’s decision it would be different. I also listened to @tcondon today with LeShun, really nice discussion about Iowa’s predictability/defenses knowing what’s coming. I don’t think this is just an Iowa issue, but it is quite frustrating.

I listened to it while on a walk tonight. They had technical difficulties right as they were discussing it. All he really said is Brian wants to go with Padilla and it’s starting to get contentious with the offensive staff.

This is the easiest thing ever. Just change QBs. The problem won’t be nearly 100% solved because the scheme is poopy and the line is a mess but making 5 or 6 makeable plays during the ISU game and it’s probably a win. Peaches has shown to be incapable of that. Padilla has shown he can on occasion. Even if it’s just enough to grind out the season and shit out a respectable record to keep the recruiting class together and avoid mass transfers.

Step 1 is to stop the bleeding.

I’m surprised an Arkansas assistant knows anything about Iowa.
