Kirk had his brief Rumspringa and returned to the church of risk aversion with renewed dedication.
This isn’t true. Iowa punts because punting and playing defense gives them a better chance to score from pretty much beyond the 37 yard line. It’s not because the offense is risk averse. It’s because the offense fucking blows.

The only Hawkeyes of the Ferentz era I remember being booed with any regularity other than Petras was Rudock for a bit, Adam Shada and Herb Grigsby.

Not sure what it said but a couple guys started hanging a banner over the upper deck in the north end zone at the end of the game Saturday.

Kirk would be wise to completely hand over the keys to the offense to someone (obviously not Brian). A simple OC change isn’t going to cut it. I’m sure he and Brian never imagined it would go this poorly but here we are. It’s funny to consider the trajectory change Brian’s life may have taken had they just allowed Zach Wilson to come on his visit. There are certainly other faults, but talent hides a lot of deficiencies.

He'd be the equivalent of Stanley had he come to Iowa. A lot better than Spencer, but not what he is today.

Iowa has performed terribly on offense. On this there can be no debate. The numbers do not lie.

The offensive coordinator and the QB are arguably the two most important persons in determining an offense’s performance. At Iowa, in 2022, the QB seems to have unlimited job security and the OC is the poster boy for why nepotism rules exist.

Shitty OC + shitty QB + shitty OL = Not great, Bob.

It's not Brian's fault! The QB and OL are bad!

The guy's been in charge for 5 years. Those things are also his fault.

Just said this, but it is insane. These two charts highlight exactly what Phil Parker knows - the way to have a good offense is explosive plays. No one has a great offense that consistently steadily marches down the field 5-6 yards at a time.

I think KF inherited his playbook from Woody Hayes.

Imagine the trajectory change of Zach Wilson's life if he had visited Iowa. Maybe a 3rd or 4th round pick like CJ?

Last year there was a stat that showed iowa was winning with bad quarterback play, like essentially making quarterback play not matter. Iowa’s response to that was to change nothing, and keep someone that is clearly in over his head, and playing someone that clearly can’t do what he needs to to lead a successful offense. It’s time Kirk, sail off in the sunset, and do something to ensure Phil can keep being the DC.

Count me in the camp that thinks Spence won't take a Covid year. At this time next year, he'll be back in California leading a small circle of Sunday school children in song, which he'll cite as his true passion, though he'll spend his weekdays stuck in traffic between appointments hawking medical devices. He might not even watch football for a few years. It's going to take awhile for the weight of the anxiety and sense of personal failure to subside. But he can't start the healing until he gets out of town, and I think he throws in the towel at season's end.

The only way Petras gets pulled is if he gets injured. Kirk is so fucking weird about changing qbs
I think if Petras were hit by a bus and became a wheelchair-bound paraplegic, KF would still put him in under the rationality that his arm wasn't any worse, he wouldn't shit his pants any more than he did before, and the wheelchair would improve his mobility.

Kirk is going to ask him back after striking out in the portal.

Rumor on hawkeyereport is that Labas is a tard that can't make multiple reads.
I mean........we have a guy in his third year as a starter that can't do that. You're telling me he's too stupid to run the "find LaPorta and throw to him no matter what offense?"

He can't possible be LESS athletic

Well now the QB has to know where Lachey is as well. Pretty complex shit there for a QB to digest. It takes a good 5 years to learn it.
