Sounds like he is Spencer Petras.Kirk is going to ask him back after striking out in the portal.
Rumor on hawkeyereport is that Labas is a tard that can't make multiple reads.
Scooped!

Really hammered it home here after seeing Banks and the 2002 team in the house on Sunday. Incredible offense in year 4 of the program with a mobile QB...and he never fucking went back to it. Completely asinine.Iowa total offense:
KEN O'KEEFE YEARS
2002: 424.5 YPG, #13 of 117 total schools (11 wins, Banks QB)
2003: 334.1 YPG, 92 of 117 (10 wins, Tate QB)
2004: 312.7 YPG, 104 of 120 (10 wins, Tate QB)
2005: 432.4 YPG, 22 of 119 (7 wins, Tate QB)
2006: 383.3 YPG, 27 of 119 (6 wins, Tate QB)
2007: 316.3 YPG, 109 of 119 (6 wins, Christensen QB)
2008: 370.4 YPG, 53 of 119 (9 wins, Christensen/Stanzi QB)
2009: 336.3 YPG, 89 of 120 (11 wins, Stanzi QB)
2010: 382.9 YPG, 57 of 120 (8 wins, Stanzi QB)
2011: 372,5 YPG, 76 of 120 (7 wins, Vandenberg QB)
GREG DAVIS YEARS
2012: 310.4 YPG, 117 of 124 (4 wins, Vandenberg QB)
2013: 377.0 YPG, 84 of 125 (8 wins, Rudock QB)
2014: 400.1 YPG, 66 of 128 (7 wins, Rudock QB)
2015: 386.1 YPG, 72 of 128 (12 wins, Beathard QB)
2016: 325.0 YPG, 121 of 128 (8 wins, Beathard QB)
Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz YEARS
2017: 329.1 YPG, 117 of 130 (8 wins, Stanley QB)
2018: 375.0 YPG, 92 of 130 (9 wins, Stanley QB)
2019: 366.5 YPG, 99 of 130 (10 wins, Stanley QB)
2020: 368.6 YPG, 88 of 128 (6 wins - COVID, Petras QB)
2021: 303.9 YPG, 121 of 130 (10 wins, Petras QB)
2022: 242.2 YPG, 130 of 131 (incomplete, Petras QB)
Conclusions:
- KOK >>> GDGD >>> BF
- While we fondly remember the offense under Stanley, it was mediocre even then.
- Phil Parker is a genius. Iowa has won a lot of football games with crappy offense and his defense.
- The two worst offensive seasons of the past 20 years will both be Brian/Spencer specials.

That's not what I've heardRumors on the internet regarding our QBs are almost never true.
Tate to a lesser extent, and Beathard before he was hurt. Which coincidentally were his best teams.Really hammered it home here after seeing Banks and the 2002 team in the house on Sunday. Incredible offense in year 4 of the program with a mobile QB...and he never fucking went back to it. Completely asinine.
Might one say that you're ... not sure if the QB rumors are true?Rumors on the internet regarding our QBs are almost never true.
These guys were all 3 and 4 recruits. Iowa is a developmental program by reputation, so this hurts that brandShitty OC + shitty QB + shitty OL = Not great, Bob.
Interesting if trueIt might be because Brian is the son of head coach Kirk Ferentz.
Perhaps the new OC will hire a legitimate QB coach.
Healy said they moved down to Miami. Said they’re trying to change their image. The San Francisco Treat
Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz is in his first year coaching QBs. Patiencelike Tony Ricearoni?
Catsup heir.Who is Jamison Heinz?
There's 3 white CBs in the depth chart. Makes you think...Banks is our last black qb who saw any significant playing time. 2 decades ago.
Perhaps Akrum is right...
There's 3 white CBs in the depth chart. Makes you think...
Yeah we've had a shit ton of white RBs, WRs, and DBs getting a lot of PT over the years. There's 3 white CBs in the depth chart. Makes you think...
Slight counter point:Yeah we've had a shit ton of white RBs, WRs, and DBs getting a lot of PT over the years.
Yet only one black QB with significant playing time in 23 years? We never even seem to be in on any...
Arvell came to mind, but again significant playing timeArvell Nelson.
DJK as well. All seem to switch positions...Slight counter point:
Kirk wanted Leak bad and we were in the Top 2 for him.
Micah Hyde, McCollum, Manson and McNutt all came in as QBs, I think.
We offered a black dual threat this year that committed to Mississippi State.
I'm not sure that list and where they ended up seeing the field counters the pointSlight counter point:

He said “in on any…” which implies recruiting.I'm not sure that list and where they ended up seeing the field counters the point
Forgot about him coming in as QB.DJK as well. All seem to switch positions...
Shut up, clone, you homo.I'm not sure that list and where they ended up seeing the field counters the point
I wasn't aware of the Miss State commit. He said “in on any…” which implies recruiting.
All those guys listed started at QBs and were recruited as QBs. They switched positions after getting to Iowa (which can CERTAINLY lend to the point you are making) but it’s SLIGHTLY a counter point to your original statement.I wasn't aware of the Miss State commit.
Out of character, however
Banks ran for plenty of yards...Iowa doesn’t utilize the QB in the running game. While it’s not as cut as before, black QBs still tend to wind up in systems that use the QB in running. And Iowa’s primary recruiting territory is pretty white in that regard. I think Christensen, Manson, and CJ were the only QBs considered dual threat by rivals. (Believe even Nelson was called pro style)
File is still openAll those guys listed started at QBs and were recruited as QBs. They switched positions after getting to Iowa (which can CERTAINLY lend to the point you are making) but it’s SLIGHTLY a counter point to your original statement.
Case dismissed.
You can’t dismiss your own case. Case UNdismissed, dawg. All those guys listed started at QBs and were recruited as QBs. They switched positions after getting to Iowa (which can CERTAINLY lend to the point you are making) but it’s SLIGHTLY a counter point to your original statement.
Case dismissed.
Since then, to be clear. And up until and including him, he was an outlier.Banks ran for plenty of yards...
That was 20 years ago.Banks ran for plenty of yards...
Racked up yardage too rapidly with a QB like that. Quick scores mean a tired defense and we can’t have that.Since then, to be clear. And up until and including him, he was an outlier.
Slight counterpoint. 4 of the last 5 QBs have been drafted. Not a lot of schools can say that.Kirk is aware that having a qb that can run presents more problems for defenses, I’ve heard him say those words. They just can’t get any to come to iowa. And with the last 3 years why would anyone want to play offense at iowa?
I know you're joking, but the thing about 2002's offense is that it came with an incredible defense. They were two non-freshmen corners away from being virtually unstoppable. And yet the offense didn't suffer and the special teams were still special.Racked up yardage too rapidly with a QB like that. Quick scores mean a tired defense and we can’t have that.
((as we watch another 3 and out))
Slight counter to the slight counterpoint: only one of those four has seen playing time and that was only because he played behind the broken-est qb in the NFL.Slight counterpoint. 4 of the last 5 QBs have been drafted. Not a lot of schools can say that.
2002 defense was #57 in total defense and #49 in YPP.I know you're joking, but the thing about 2002's offense is that it came with an incredible defense. The lack of lessons learned by Kirk Ferentz is mind-bottling.
Yeah, we get romantic about that 2002 defense because it included guys like Considine and Sanders, but that defense gave up 24 ppg until they hit the easy part of their schedule down the stretch.2002 defense was #57 in total defense and #49 in YPP.
