I just hope my money doesn't go to petras. He had already stolen so much from me. Mostly happiness

People more than likely aren't going to give up the perks they get for those donations (close parking, good seats) in order to donate to a collective.
I don't think guys that donate $1M+ are that concerned about the extra pocket change for parking and seats. The athletic department should and is telling them where to donate.

let him prove he’s still good at something elsewhere…that’s the way the real world works when you fail miserably at something for an employer

You’d be surprised the number of “big money” Hawkeyes fans that are doing next to nothing for NIL

Right, but that’s true of all fan bases. I was responding to both the concern over Iowa being big donor in most cases, but not NIL and Balls’ comments about losing parking and seating preference.

Why do you think he was promoted to OC? Because he’s Kirk’s son, or because he produced national award winners and 1st round picks in multiple roles?

if we were hiring someone with a resume that looked exactly like Brian’s in 2017, everyone would be excited.
I was excited for Brian’s promotion to OC (primarily because it meant the end of the GDGD era), but I would’ve been severely disappointed if KF hired some unknown assistant coach with no offensive experience outside of the OL and TE positions, and especially with no experience calling plays.

Brian got the job because of his name.

Fuck Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz into the sun. There is no fucking way he should be retained in any capacity as a member of the University of Iowa football staff, and it’s absolutely asinine to assert otherwise. The only reason or explanation for it woukd be the identity of the man from whose loins he sprang.

I don’t give a fuck about the merits of the mistaken decision in 2017 at this point. I’m focused on the decision in 2022 and there is no other program in the country where a miserable failure of an OC like this guy would be retained in any capacity. It would be inconceivable.

KOK was a former head coach, Greg Davis was a former head coach and OC at Arkansas, UNC, and Texas, but Kirk definitely would’ve hired someone with Brian’s resume as his next OC even if that person wasn’t related to him.

It’s all very surprising that L Jersey Chaser is a Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz defender.

Let’s look at it differently, would any Power 5 program hire a similarly situated candidate as Brian as their OC in 2017? Absolutely not.
Not a legitimate one…

However, Iowa state hired a MAC OL coach to be their OC around the same time.

and he’s now being fired and not remaining on the staff in a different capacity, despite leading a considerably more productive offense

I’m with Gus on this one. Brian needs to GTFO. I don’t want him sitting in a coaches meeting and offering an opinion on anything. Yes, I think he’d be fine as an OL coach, but any comment even remotely related to his experience as an OC should be treated like the equivalent of football cancer.

yes. And I would also argue that Brian only stayed at Iowa because of his last name. He had numerous opportunities to go elsewhere over the years.

Heard from a source Gattis is a go. Not sure what’s happening with Brian, but I wouldn’t think he’d waste his time flying to Jersey today if he was about to be off the staff.

You guys do realize he has another game to coach, right? This is D1 football, these guys don't just pack it in when they feel like it.
Half the coaches change jobs in December at this point
