The outrage towards Brian was deserved this year. Not on his play calling with a shitty QB and shitty OL, but because he was in on the decision to stand pat last season with an arrogance of being able to overcome a shitty QB and shitty OL with “details” and scheme. It was and is a fireable offense to have run it all back in 2022. You hitched your wagon to Spencer Petras and Jack Plumb and they predictably led you right off the side of the cliff.

With all of that being said, it can also be true that Brian is a qualified and capable position coach and still has a future in coaching ahead of him in the NFL.

Ultimately 2022 was a wasted season and that’s on Kirk and Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz. I am happy with the recent change in direction but will not blame anyone for leaving after such an incompetent and reckless approach to 2022. I know there were rumors of LeVar moving on and hopefully that doesn’t happen.

Right. And so he should do whatever single other coach in the country who doesn’t work for his dad does: get fired for his poor performance here, and get a job somewhere else, and prove that he can still be successful.

I’m enjoying the lols at the thought that Brian would have OC duties stripped from him, but he stays on staff as a position coach? Lol, I don’t think that’s a thing.

On his year as a running backs coach, Ferentz stated in 2020 during a coaching clinic "I'm like the worst running back coach in America. I was a shitty running back coach... I did it for a year, and I quit. It was too hard. I was no good at it." After taking over as quarterbacks coach in spring 2022, Ferentz told media "man, I got a lot to learn."

Nobody wants Brian on staff. The point was if for some stupid reason he wants to take a demotion from OC to OL or TE coach, the world will go on and everyone at Iowa will be able to more than function.
my point is that any “reason” would be as “stupid” as fuck and could only happen here. as a fan and alum, it’s annoying to me that we might distinguish ourselves as unique in this regard. It’s dysfunctional

Stats suggest he’s not a good OL coach. Or QB coach. Maybe his very narrow skill is to coach great TEs.
I remember a video clip of him calling out a young Tristan Wirfs for being a pussy and then he eventually turned out to not be a pussy so I’ll generously give BF credit for that transformation.

He does look quite a bit thinner than he has for most of his tenure in that pic. Could he stress related weight loss

McNamara just started following Keagan Johnson on Instagram, Tyler Barnes never wished Johnson luck on Twitter like he did the other portal entries, and we should know by early in the week if he’s coming back.

Now let’s get back to talking about Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz.

Gonna need examples of times an O coordinator stayed, took a demotion and it worked out

As the moderator of another site told me when I expressed concern that Iowa wasn't aggressively pursuing a portal big to protect the rim for this year's basketball team......

"PATIENCE"
Fun side note, I learned this week that the post announcing that they had finally banned you holds the all-time like record on that board

We’ve seen many suggestions that he’s such a good position coach that his retention would be defensible if not justified or even desirable.

To some extent, it doesn't matter if it's defensible. His dad is the King.

People are just trying to relieve those two notions. We want him gone, his dad calls the shots.

ISU literally just offered their OC a demotion.

Maybe you're not following along. Halo told me that KJ duped the whole coaching staff because he hates Brian/Spencer/the offense. Why this whole scheme would start a year ago right before the bowl game and he stayed on the team a whole year is just due to his deep-seated resentment of the coaching staff and him wanting to pull a long con. Probably.
