i think a good compromise between Doug who wants him to stay and the rest of us fans is to keep him on the staff but put him in the box with a headset that doesn’t connect to anyone. He’ll never notice.
literally no one wants him to stay

I remember a video clip of him calling out a young Tristan Wirfs for being a pussy and then he eventually turned out to not be a pussy so I’ll generously give BF credit for that transformation.
"Do you like his hands in your face?'

"No."

"Then get them out of there. Stop being so fucking nice."

I don't like BF, but I'm okay with that.

We’ve seen many suggestions that he’s such a good position coach that his retention would be defensible if not justified or even desirable.
Name one fucking person that said any of that. You've got terrible reading comprehension.

my point is that any “reason” would be as “stupid” as fuck and could only happen here. as a fan and alum, it’s annoying to me that we might distinguish ourselves as unique in this regard. It’s dysfunctional
Also, this is flat out wrong. A team playing right now in the Big XII championship had this same sort of issue. Plenty of others have coached with their sons and family.

I'm just going to put my opinions on the record regarding Brian and the OL coaching position.
  • Brian is a terrible OC who should at minimum should have been removed before this year.
  • Barnett is fucking dogshit at coaching the mental side of being an offensive lineman. Watching the Iowa OL consistently confused about who they are supposed to block is an abomination. Fire him yesterday.
  • Getting the next OL coach hire right is of utmost importance because there is a lot of developmental damage that needs to be reversed.
  • Brian was a well above average OL coach whose players appeared to know what they were doing.
  • I could see a world where Brian as the OL coach under a future OC would work, but only if he eats a clear title and pay demotion and the atmosphere in the building isn't completely toxic surrounding him remaining.
  • Brian will never again advance higher than position coach/run game coordinator. NFL, college or otherwise.
  • I would prefer that they hire a good OL coach to replace Barnett and Brian moves on.

BDS is a terrible disease.
No shit. The last 2 or 3 pages are Gus IowaFans just fucking flailing about because it was pointed out that IF for some stupid fucking reason that Brian was demoted and stayed that ultimately the program wouldn't fall apart and the coaching staff would be fine and be able to work through it.

Nobody wants that or is advocating for it, yet somehow Gus and a few other interpreted that as people not only love Brian, but want him to stay.

Madness.

Doug and Brian sitting in a tree
F-I-S-T-I-N-G
First came cumfarts, then came marriage
Then came Incel Bob in a baby carriage
I tell you, after the last few pages maybe I will actually root for Brian to get demoted and stay on as OL coach. It might be worth it to see the freak out.

So you agree that it would be a poor decision and an unusual accommodation based solely on his bloodline that Gary Barta would have no reason to allow other than to further placate Kirk?

I don’t think pointing out that reality is “freaking out”.

How in the FUCK can you even be asking that? I've said and EVERYONE has said it would be a poor decision from the start. Nobody wants it.

You aren't just pointing out that "reality", partially because it is still a total hypothetical, but also partly because you are assigning blame all over the place that some imaginary people want it to happen.

So, yes, you are freaking out over absolutely nothing.

There certainly seems to be a fair amount of openness to idea of Brian staying among some. A copacetic vibe if you will. LWade even suggested that it may be indispensable to our ability to attract and keep talent.

solely on his bloodline? You mean other than the multiple first round picks, multiple 1st team all conference players, national player of the year awards at multiple positions, and national OL of the year award?

Lol, if you fire a coach, you have a high chance of losing players they recruited. #analysis

Even when that coach is the worst offensive coordinator in Power 5 football and in many cases would not be coaching the position the kid plays if retained?

I wish they could somehow convince Joe Philbin to come back and coach OL. I wouldn’t mind him at OC if Gattis or Chryst aren’t the guy.

I’m on record as having said I’m more concerned about fixing the line than I am the QB spot.

but there’s something I’ve never quite understood….if Brian is so good at coaching the OLine…and it was the OLine preventing his offense from “working”….why the fuck didn’t he fix it? The idea that he was capable, but simply chose not to because that was someone else’s job makes no sense to me

Because he wasn't coaching the OL.
