Is Cade with the injury really the top portal QB in America? Seems hyperbolic. He’s only a savior if surrounded by well above average talent, imo.
Devin Leary from NC State is the best QB in the portal.

Cade is good, no question, and a massive upgrade from Spence, though.

We have the bends. Going from getting 4* Alabama transfer to losing proven players/starters, yeah, you’re going to see some negative reactions.
Add your name to the list of retards that don't understand how the portal timeline works.

If it helps, since IowaFan seems terribly unfamiliar with all of this, the transfer portal sees nearly everyone enter the portal within a few days, but takes sometimes weeks for guys to officially announce their new schools. You see a few do it early (mostly QB's), but mostly that is the cadence.

Hence you are going to get a majority of official "bad" news in the beginning, and most of the official "good" news down the road.

Agreed. Hall had a rough game against Nebrantska no doubt, but Phil has been pretty high on him IIRC. That’s good enough for me.
I think we've also been spoiled with true freshman CBs who look much better when pressed into action than should be expected over the last decade. Most of those instances they've had a week of practice to prepare before having to go out there.

I'll bet Kirk's staff is going to reassess how it keeps injured players engaged in the program.

LOL, that's it for you Daddio? Terry Roberts is what kept the dream alive for a dynamic team next year?
It’s the collective dearth of burst that I find so depressing, William.

Addition by subtraction with Bruce and Gavin, but Jacobs, Johnson and Roberts hurt.

What does the portal timeline have to do with the Alabama guy not coming to Iowa and Jacobs, Roberts leaving?
It has everything to do with it.

The Alabama guy thing sucks, but better to find out now. Iowa is in on a lot of players and will land a lot of guys.

Harris was ahead of roberts last year and appears quicker to me. I liked roberts, but Harris should be decent next year and I expect Hall to get better.
I certainly hope that what we saw vs. Nebrantska was not his ceiling.

I'm just lol'ing that now people are really worried about the CB coached by Phil Parker of all people on the face of the earth. All because of a complete fluke in the final game of the year that no other program in the country except for maybe Georgia could have overcome.

Riley Moss was garbage and abused as a freshman in a game the same way. He turned out ok.
I know. I was mocking the "I expect Hall to get better" comment because of course he will get better.

Calm down, Doug.

They have Cooper, Harris, Hall, and Lee (who I have heard some good things about). I'm sure they will also get a CB from the portal as well. That position will be fine.

Honestly, if the OL can take a big step forward and if Cade is what he was in 2021, they will be fine. Not great but a hell of a lot better than this year.

I saw Jamison Heinz, a walk-on/converted WR, get absolutely abused in a game that Iowa needed to win to go to the BT championship. I’ve never seen a slower, worse, CB in my life. Injuries are going to happen. If there’s any scenario besides a cholera outbreak that results in him getting meaningful playing time, you absolutely need to worry about depth.

Lol, they were down to their like 6th string CB. It's a one in a million fluke.

I don't think I can ever forgive KF for not having a contingency plan where Nwampka goes in to play corner for a half in order to have a chance to play in the Big Ten title game. Instead we get a walk-on from Humboldt.

Not that this made it easier to watch, but Hall played worse in the same game. I’d obviously rather they put Nwankpa in/not had to resort to Heinz, but the sky isn’t falling.

Probably correct but that doesn’t mean he will be ready next year. Would have been nice to have the depth.

Michigan had bad quarterbacks for a long run and then they won the big ten when McNamara started playing.

Most of the people in this thread are acting like dumbass coach parents who are the ones who always speak up and yell out dumb shit when they actually know next to nothing about sports. Terry Roberts! OMG!
Yes, I'm delighted that Terry Roberts is going elsewhere to conclude his college career.

It's great!!!

We don't know anything about this player but he went to Alabama, so we're all in on him. Yes!!! For some reason, he's in.

Oh, he attacked someone with a butcher knife and threatened to murder his teammates?

Terry Roberts...good luck to you.

3/4ths of this is going to be keeping the good/great players you have.

"No other team in the country could have overcome what we endured in that game."

Jesus...what happened?
