Brian, player development, and personnel are totally different issues.

Petras is bad, and getting worse. That’s a position coach and recruiting failure. It’s a head coach “my way” failure.

Brian is a bad OC because he doesn’t understand play design or scheme. His philosophy is just “slow,” and he thinks adding a word like “complimentary” to it makes it a valid scheme.

Back in the O’Keefe days, you knew first half frustrations were in service of setting up second half options. Brian is a kid scrolling the menus in Madden. There is no theme or cohesion.

When yards have been at a premium it is absolutely unconscionable to make the play call. It killed one of the most promising drives of the seasons so far, where we had gained 9 yards.

In fairness to KOK, they had scored an equal number of points in the first quarter as this team has on the season. Tate had 3 less passing yards on one play to Brodell in the first quarter than Petras had in the three quarters leading up to that play.

It is incredible. I shouldn’t feel like with 4 minutes and change left in that game I if Iowa didn’t block the punt that there was no way they could overcome a 3 point deficit against that fucking Iowa State team, but there we were. I never recall being at the game and spacing out for multiple plays of a drive because I was so bored before the last two seasons. It has happened to me both games this season.

Of everything that happened during that game to piss me off, that end around was the one that sticks with me. I will be back to the stadium for the Michigan game and beyond, but Jesus Christ. It has not been fun to sit there in the stands and watch this shit.

Iowa is in HUGE trouble against any defense with a pulse. Look what iowa state’s defense did to them. That’s a Big12 defense and iowa just looks like shit against them. These first two weeks the back seven is showing no regard for Iowa’s passing game. And there is nothing indicating anything is remotely close to making them pay.

I parked downtown to be able to get out easier. Which ended in my walking to my car in the pouring rain with a bunch of drunk college kids screaming after watching that fuckfest. Then once I walked by downtown it was just a bunch of Iowa State fans screaming and celebrating.

Iowa should have gone hard after Adrian Martinez, he would have worked well in iowa's system. Low risk system, run when he he needs to, hand the ball off, play action. perfect fit. Kansas St got a steal.
