I'm not that down on the offense. Hank was fine, honestly I feel a little better about him than I did before the game. The OL I thought played mostly ok, 0 sacks. They just got no help at all from their OC. Put in awful positions all night. You can't block 10 guys running downhill. Lester was awful and damn near cost them the game.

The defense was.... pretty damn good? 250ish yards and 13 points? I don't know who wouldn't take that.

Kirk is an absolute drooling retard when it comes to this game. Just pants-on-head retarded. He got his coinflip though, and this time he won. I absolutely fucking hate this game. I'm not happy at all, just relieved that we barely escaped another excruciating loss to those fucks. And oh god if they had pulled it out they would be asking themselves if coach Jimmy is the next Nick Saban. We won the game, and we're probably going to drop in the polls. Cancel this series for fuck sake.

I'll say this about Rogers. That team was sound. They weren't going to beat themselves. We'll see how things play out but right now I hope he doesn't stay there long.

Doubtful and not by much if they do. The national writers and coaches don't see this game the same way we do.

The one thing you can say is this game that will get added to the endless list of Iowa wins that are not enjoyable and you couldn't pay me to watch them again. Sooo many of these, especially since 2020 (and even some entire 10 win seasons) are simply not re-watchable at all.

The leading Iowa receiver in the 2023 season for the entire year had 21 catches and 299 yards.

2. Unpopular opinion but the new PA guy is a massive upgrade. The last guy sucked and people won't admit it because of nostalgia.
3. The concessions situation this season is unbearable. They must fix this. I missed nearly a quarter getting my kids some food. I don't drink at games, but those lines looked horrible too.
4. In 20+ years, the traffic was the worst I've ever seen it.
5. The new seatbacks for the commoners are a great upgrade. Much improved.
6. They took deep shots and it makes me happy.
7. It's a joke/cliche at this point I know but I swear to god KF would rather win 16-13 than pound the shit out of anyone. It's almost too obvious to chalk up to being a joke.
8. There are just soooo many fats.
9. After last week I thought we'd be a typical Iowa physical team. I do not see this currently on either side. We're still well above average.
10. I hate sitting around people who don't understand the game, which is 80% of the stadium.
11. The PR mugging is still vexing me. I couldn't explain it at the time and still can't. I am terribly vexed.
12. F16s are pretty cool. I can absolutely see how the kid in Iron Eagle took used one to take out a 3rd world military with Chappy's help.

Iowa State didn't really try to do much and Iowa mostly was playing to contain them. They threw for 119 yards. That's it.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't think we remotely know yet. Iowa looked far worse last year early including the first game against Albany, the loss to Iowa State and much of the game with the defense getting torched at a shitty Rutgers team.

Then a few days later they took the eventual undefeated National Champions and Heisman winner right to the wire and made them look more frustrated and more beat up holding them to 15 points than any other team made them the entire year.

We'll have a much better idea after the Michigan game.

1- I thought Moulton won the game in the 4th by getting extra (Moulton) yards.
2- Make a couple of short 3rd owns and the game is a lackluster but solid win.
3- 3rd down to James seemed like a two guy screw up. The ball seemed a bit late and James got a little over-anxious. I haven't re-watched, but it looked like in the last 3rd down run by Williams, the wrong guy was in the game. A little misdirection thing asking Williams to be a twinkle toes instead of north-south power. Maybe they thought they could break it big on the backside, but I'd rather see McNeil on that play.
4- Maybe it just isn't there, but Lester seems to hate the bootleg.
5- Hank did hit Diaz on a long fade, but they had a 6-4 corner on a 5-10 or 11 Diaz and the guy got a hand up. Might have been a better matchup for RVZ.
6- Is it me, or is DJV looking a little stiff this year, like he has less WR in him and more blocking TE in him?
7- I kept telling people this isn't the rag tag bunch that past ISU coaches threw out in year one. They have a definite ceiling skill wise, but they're tough dudes.
8- The Big 12 looks to be rather good this year.
