“Beat Ourselves”

They are literally too dumb to interpret any of this correctly

Kirk and Rece even mentioned what sort of message it sends when you put the backups in with that much time left. Nicest way they could’ve said “I can’t believe you quit on this game and we are never ever coming back to Ames because this is pathetic.”

Defensive Coordinator of the Week: Phil Parker, Iowa

It's time we put some respect on Phil Parker's name.

No. 10 Iowa's 8-game winning streak has been fueled by a defense that's allowed 13.25 points over that span and takes the ball away more than an only child at his first playdate.
Unpossible

The only thing that could beat the vaunted Cyclones is themselves

I think my favorite part of the game was Sugar Cubes trotting backwards with this intense look on his face after they drove down and kicked a field goal to go up 3-0.

He's such a fucking poser and mouth breathing dipshit. It was a mini version of "they think they're so fucking smart" from the last game.
He was bouncing up and down as he was going backwards with this look on his face. After a field goal.

In many war movies there is a scene the morning after the big battle...when the sun comes up and everyone can see the death and destruction that has been left behind.

That is what Pollard sees this morning.
His football team is falling down the rankings, his forever loyal sons didn’t see the fourth quarter yesterday, and now he’s an AD in a second-tier league with BIG financial problems coming.

I thought there was one play that exemplified why the “Purdy is a Heisman candidate”/“Kolar is an All-American” can exist in the Big 12 but not against real opponents who play real defense. There was a 3rd down play where Purdy threw to Kolar on the sideline; the throw was good and Kolar brought it down and it was about to be a really pretty 15-20 yard play to keep a drive alive. But Jacobs was there in perfect coverage and he continued with the play and knocked the ball out, so it was just another punt. That play is completed against any Big 12 team and people use it as an example of the greatness of Purdy and Kolar. But against Iowa it’s just another incomplete pass by a quarterback who looks bad and a tight end who looks pedestrian.

Rewatching the game

The last filed goal attempt by ISU with 30 seconds left, missed so bad that it nearly hit a fan and snapped off a huge piece of the stadium chair is the most Iowa state thing I’ve ever seen

I think Campbell was actually relieved that kick missed b/c the potential was there for them to be within a score despite him having his team quit and lay down except for the reserves.

And it wasn't even Ass Alley kicking it? Can Ass Alley not kick further than 40 yards or did he bench their starting kicker too?

I will say, I loved nearly every moment of that game yesterday, but at no point will I ever log in to post on CF. Reading and sharing here is one thing. Posting is another. That’s super Bush League and should be beneath us as a fan base IMO.

Hey do you guys remember that time Iowa State fans talked shit and hyped up their program ascendency for over a year and then Iowa humiliated and beat the shit out of them and made their coach quit and fans leave with almost a quarter left?

To be fair, they entered 3 hours early to throw shit at the Hawkeyes warming up.

The best part (on TV anyway) of that whole series of events was how Herbstriet commented on how it was a “smart move” right before the kick....then long pause that included said missed kick, and he then responded “....but you gotta make the kick.”

I could have that injected into my veins forever....

Blum is going to be sad. The tv numbers he strikes himself over are game averages. The average yesterday was killed in the late 3rd and 4th quarters, but that’s what happens when a power school puts their foot on the neck of an upstart second tier team.

I find it funny reading through these threads how much our fanbase is hanging their hat on "holding Iowa to 173 yards" or whatever. Seriously folks, I get trying to be positive, but its not hard to understand how meaningless "total yards" is. Iowa was in complete control of most of the game. Did our defense do well shutting down their crappy offense and not allowing lots of big plays? Sure. But when their offense needed points, it got them. It got. in the endzone several times. crucially in the first half. Their offense capitalized on every turnover by putting points on the board. And when we made big stops, they calmly and instantly flipped the field with special teams, and forced us into even more mental mistakes. Their offense did exactly what they needed it to do. And they as a team controlled Iowa State throughout. It was an absolute clinic. They won the game exactly as they intended to, and I can assure you give absolute 0 sh**s about their offensive yardage output.

Only losing teams point to these meaningless stats.

Get through Maryland 5-0 and it sets up top 5 Iowa and Penn State for Kinnick After Dark
That Maryland game scares the absolute fuck out of me. A classic trap game.

Iowa should be 4-0 with possibly a top 5 ranking, and be pretty content with themselves.

Penn State looming the week after.

A hungry, and decent, Maryland game with a Friday night spotlight in Maryland.

Petras' first road Douche game in front of fans.

A RATT letdown scenario if there ever was one.

This guy gets that turnovers matter, but they still seem to think that they’re mostly just dumb luck and not something the iowa defense does exceptionally well.
That was one of most dominating defensive performance by ISU vs Iowa I've seen...

Is there any doubt at all in any way if the TO's were flipped that ISU wins that game walking away by 3-4 TD's? But...Iowa D made those plays and it's part of the game.

We could have overcome poor ST play in this game but the TO's were absolute demoralizing killers.

Nothing else to it than that.

Our future at QB looks really bright and Eli Sanders played well in the 4th Qtr. Definitely want to see him more in the run game...

What a fucking awesome game and day. I got drunk, rich, and laid and enjoyed this game more than any in years. My jaw dropped when I saw how empty the stadium was in the fourth quarter when ISU was still within striking range on national TV. That is one pathetic fan base.

They mentioned the ridiculous turnover margin like 9 times yesterday.

At least twice they mentioned Iowa leading the country in INT’s over the last couple years.

How do you just completely ignore all of those data points over and over and over and just simply conclude: “well, they got lucky.”

That is a fundamentally broken psyche
