It's more than valid. In 2004 there were 450 roster spots in the NBA. In 2024-2025 when any of the players in college now go to the NBA, there are going to be 540 roster spots.

If it makes you feel any better, they have the exact same number of conference championships and final 4s as we do for the past 2+ decades. Iowa’s win percentage the past 20 years is .572 while ISU comes in at .569. Iowa has failed in the NCAA tournament, though, which is what it all comes down to.
